Yoda's looking pretty crisp these days...

:edit:
In other news, the design for my new 3D printer is coming together now. I'm getting the ballscrew end turned down to accommodate a stepper motor coupler.

I'll include technical drawings and stuff at a later stage.

Welp, after a looooong break, the old 3D printer is back up and running. Printing parts for the new printer, but there we go Laughing

Photos to follow (assuming it's a successful print, of course).

:edit:
The print crapped out partway through thanks to a dodgy connection that I knew about, but thought I could just ignore. More fool me.
Either way, this is what I was trying to print:

I'm not going to post a photo of the filed print, because I've already kicked off the second attempt.

Successful print ahoy:

What's even better is that I managed to get all but one of the dimensions for the design of the file right. Given that I had to work off really rough measurements, I'm pretty pleased with that.

I can't say that I'm surprised that Oomlout are doing such a thing. I worked with the guy that designed the original plyrap, which is what this is an extension of. Having built the plyrap, I can see the appeal of this method, although it's a heavier process to make the components.

If you ever find 'something' that is worth printing in bulk then I would be more than happy to reverse engineer it.

Considering buying one of these next.

The accuracy is way off but they are cheap and loads of fun. It captures texture and colour as well as form.

Mmm scanning boobies. I approve.

Why did she take her jeans off too?

You can get prebuilt ones for about 4-500 quid these days, iirc.
