barrels dropped on.

pistons sit 1.66mm above deck.

head dropped on.

deck height on the 3he pistons is actually slightly lower, but because of the increase in diam, the dome fouls the combustion chamber.

i should be able to fix it with a bit of machining, just need to make a setting fixture to hold the pistons.

then i noticed this on the head:

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xap1/v/t1.0-9/p180x540/11071953_10152750480683365_4624988562768288466_n.jpg?oh=2d00541182d7ef0739fe44c5b979f477&oe=55AD8212&__gda__=1436969385_0f470bbe9f16ce17d9885472ae4d3da7

i did a sad.

will have a go at chain drilling it and weld it up, then skim the head.

yeah.

pain in the arse. other than that, the head is mint. all the other 73a heads i have, have picked up on at least 1 cam journal, but this one is factory fresh, no snapped studs or corrosion around the exhaust ports.

just need to fix that crack and spotface the head bolt seats to account for the raised barrels.

so its been a while, but here's where i am.

gk73a primary gear on the left and my new gk75 gear on the right.

https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/11694820_10153016302533365_6195012725057582831_n.jpg?oh=dadab31584b78d15452e63359896d027&oe=560EA30B

this gear allows me to use a gk71b crank in a set of gk73a cases, with a gk73a clutch basket.

fitted to the gk71b crank will be a set of gk73a rods with fzr400 (3HE) pistons.

this should give me 494cc

there is still an amount of work to do, in terms of the fact that the crank sticks out the left hand side of the engine too far and theres no where to bolt the generator on to, but those are little issues.

all slotted together perfectly.

https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfa1/v/t1.0-9/s720x720/11880444_10153067222418365_3070682778637372273_n.jpg?oh=36200f102ae866d488ef46779a5398c4&oe=568109F7

my next mission is to figure out how to modify the crank or starter clutch to allow the 73a clutch to fit onto the 71b crank (currently the journal which the clutch gear floats on is too large a diameter and the taper is too long.

hopefully its as simple as cutting 15mm off the end of the crank, grinding down the journal diameter and re grinding the taper on.

Can you not CNC a case cover to hold the stator and keep the rotor on that crank?
