Hi,

I am new to biking so please forgive me for any obvious or silly questions that I ask,

I was just wondering, is it road leagal to use off-road scrambler tires on road? or would you have to use on-road type tyres?

Thanks Thumbs Up

some offroad or enduro tyres are road legal, but not all.
on the manufacturer websites, it will say whats road legal or not.
IMO, knobblies on the road are dangerous as they have no grip.
Maybe you should check out semi-knobblies as they are much better for road use.

Be warned though: Semi knoblies can be slippy in the wet and insane on even a hint of ice. On the bright side, motocross learner bikes rule Smile

Ok, thanks guys Thumbs Up

at the moment I am torn between getting a 50cc motocross type bike, or a sports replica (eg motorhispania) for my 16th birthday.

Keith I like the look of your bike very much Wink

Just wondering, does it have manual gears?

the good thing about off road bikes is you can take them anywhere.

hmm.... *scatches head*

Thanks again Thumbs Up

my Derbi Senda has 6 manual gears, i wouldn't dare have a twist and go Laughing

Personally, for a 50cc bike, i'd go for an un-faired or enduro/SM style bike, that way if you drop them, its not going to be damaged apart from a few scrapes on the handlebars and foot peg.

Your right though, they can be taken anywhere. I've had some good fun on my 50 as they're great to thrash round fields and dirt roads.
