Quick update...

It was because I have left the caps on the new spark plugs that the HT leads wouldn't go back on! Haven't done them in so long I forgot about the caps Laughing put a bit of grease on the rubber seals to keep them fresh and they slipped in no problems!

Had a bit of dent in my budget as I got a call from the chap doing my suspension and one of the rebound adjusters on my forks was broken off and just spinning. Managed to pick up a spare set on ebay for £60 posted to use for parts but money is tight at the moment with a 6 week gap between pay days due to xmas coming up...hopefully that should sort it though! Putting off buying a few extras that I want but aren't needed until I have some spare cash.

Wired the rear of the bike back up today, I feckin' hate wiring looms!

https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/20121216_134555.jpg

Also decided to de-chav the yoke and remove the fake carbon fibre cover, the sticky strips used to attach it were a pain in the arse to remove but think it looks much better now. Really like the Kawasaki badge!

https://i1061.photobucket.com/albums/t468/RedDevil92/20121216_141143.jpg

Progress of building the bike back up should pick up when the forks are sorted, might not be much to do on it between now and the new year though.

I'll try and get my forks off for you ASAP mate, want to PM me your address so I can get it sorted?

Struggling with the front mudguard atm because all the bolts have seized so I might just use brute force. I'm also not onboard either now so I will have to email you with my normal email address or just message you over facetube Smile

Their stainless so at the minute they are just chewing my chocolate drill bits up Sad Yeah man I'll let you know when they are off, It might be in the new year because at the minute my funds are low. Just paid for my next tattoo sitting and also give my mum a small wedge for looking after my dog and lizards for the past 6 months. Thumbs Up

Try using a drill bit made of metal instead of chocolate.

Don't have to pay until they are done mate so just send them over whenever you can!

As mentioned above, Moto GP for a season then I'll take it from there!

Laughing I'll be with EMRA in road stocks so that has limited what I can upgrade on the bike but it keeps the cost down. Hoping to upgrade for 2014 and possibly enter thundersport GB if I have the funds.

Is there any way I can get the pistons out of my calipers if I've already stripped all the brake lines and fluid off the bike? I didn't think before ripping it all apart so now I'm left with 2 callipers that are split in half with pistons still lodged in Razz

Got to be honest, Haven't got a f*cking clue what I'm doing lol.

If you have a grease gun and a grease nipple with suitable threads you can use that, messy but can confirm it works had to do it on the VFR calipers the other day Thumbs Up

You'll have to put them back on mate and use a little bit of fluid to push them out, did the same on mine.

This seems fairly easy idea. Shall I just put a bit of brake fluid in and keep pumping until all 6 Pots fall out or is there a specific way I need to do it?

Nah put something in the middle to stop the pistons falling out and pump them out so they are all the same distance out but don't let any come out.

I then used mole grips to pull the pistons out once the caliper was split but make sure you use some rubber to protect the pistons so you don't mark them (i used a bit of marigold glove folded a few times). Try twisting them out rather than pulling them straight out.

Enjoy getting the seals out btw, they are fuckers to do. Make sure you don't scrape the sides when you do it! Try using a really small screwdriver and work it behind the seal until one bit pops out but try not slip!

Oh yeah about the past pm the rebuild kit was about £60...get it from wemoto https://www.wemoto.com/bikes/kawasaki/zx-6r_zx_600_j1_j2/00-01/

Just as a thought, check this guy out:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/ridcully72/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686

He will also take your old calipers off you for £30 off on a set of refurbed calipers. I traded in 2 sets of shitty old 4 pot Tokicos and got a set of gold Nissin 4 pots all freshly refurbed with new seals, new bleed nipples etc for £70.

Would recommend.

Fair really, but my Tokico 4 pots on the ZZR6 were absolute shite and considering a full rebuild kit costs £60, getting a pair of very nice Nissin 4 pots for £70 was a bit of a no brainer.
