Hi,
Sold a bike on the 13th of November, and sent the log book off same day. Havent heard anything back yet. Should i bother ringing them and spending the rest of time on hold / talking to someone who doesnt speak english, or shall i just leave it? I done an askMid on it, its not showing insured so he's either not riding it, or riding without insurance.
The only proof i have i delivered it is some photos i took of the car / trailer. Its 250miles from mine. Cash paid.

Post them anything (postcard, empty envelope would be fine) and get proof of postage. Job more than done, that's just to give you some peace of mind. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

https://www.gov.uk/notifying-dvla-if-you-sell-your-vehicle
So long as you and the buyer signed the V5 docket and YOU posted to DVLA you can forget about it.
It would do no harm to email them to find out if they have the V5.
Or phone them if you can be arsed waiting in line and listening to Voice Over Man who answers the phone for DVLA.
"Make sure the new keeper sends DVLA a completed V62 form to apply for a new registration certificate. Otherwise the police could still contact you if they need to make enquiries about the vehicle."
I don't think there is any reasonable hope of you doing this. That little bit needs to be removed. It's not your job to force them to post the letter you can only make a request.
But this bit is good info:
"Once DVLA have updated their records you’ll get a letter within 4 weeks confirming that you’re not liable for the vehicle any more."
I gave a car to someone who never notified DVLA years ago. It was due to be taxed and I got the letter. I'd already told them I'd sold it and sent the V5 but they may insist. I told them again it had been sold and told the fat fcuker I 'gave' the car to to get his finger out.
That sorted it. ____________________ W-ireless A-rtificial L-ifeform L-imited to O-bservation P-eacekeeping and E-fficient R-epair |
