Unbolt the headstock and remove the yokes/forks, should fit fine.

I think the (my) bike handles really well, never locks up, no scares or worries with it at all. Strange that you felt the way you did about yours, have you ridden many other bikes to compare it to?

Spent a lot of time on an older Fazer and SV650 whilst getting my licence. I have also rode bikes since I was 4 off road, though the biggest of my off road bikes was a KMX125 which I had for a few years. Not that much road experience.

Thanks for the help - I have been searching ebay and though some parts are very expensive, others dont seem too bad.

Im going to go to the garage tomorrow to have a proper look at the bike, and will probably take it home to fix up. If the frame and engine is good, then I wouldn't mind spending up to £500 to get it back on the road.

Just waiting for a bill from the council now for the repair work to the roundabout! Luckily I can forward that one on to my insurance company.

Haha thanks... but I rather be seen on half a Fazer bobbling down the road with its buckled rims than in a Paxo! No offence to you personally, just to Citroen.

Unless you've put in a Hayabusa engine or something, then you're on!

Good news, went to see the bike at the body shop today, and its not bad at all, mostly cosmetic damage, and everything else is fine. Should be completely safe to put back on the road.

Mainly needs front fairings, mirrors and two new wheels. Will post some pics later, time to search through eBay. Thumbs Up

Don't sell that for a stupid price.

You can take all the front fairing off and make it an N model. Radiators are £100 from China and are fine but I doubt you'll need to replace it unless it's actually leaking. I crashed at 100mph at Oulton park and bent all my rad up but it still holds water.

Infact here is my thread to show you what I mean total spend was about £250:

Thanks - your thread was very helpful - how you got it from the way it was to fixed for £250 is amazing.

I nearly said yes to the £800, but after seeing it and reading the above, I think I am going to fix it:

That will fix up. Shame about the wheels as they are expensive but I reckon you can get a set for 150. The frame, rad and everything else look fine. Just be grateful you didn't smash the clocks, took me a long time to find a set for a good price.

Take that front fairing ooff fit an n headlight. Buy yourself some rentals and you're good to go.... 300 quid should do it.

Since I got the bike I have hated the handling. Even changing down a gear would make the rear lose grip. I can't quite understand it. Never really felt confident on it, and I wish I sold it because I picked up for a very good price I think. I can only speculate why it felt the way it did, but I wish I checked the tyre pressures and got the suspension adjusted.

I wish I hit the front brake much harder, been thinking about why I didn't since the crash. I was changing down through the gears, but the back pretty much locked up straight away - too much speed, not enough distance and skill to not plough straight on!

Out of interest, was this the only symptom you had, or did it stall on you at junctions too?

When I first got my FZ6 I had some scary moments when the back wheel would lock up on downchanges, and it would occasionally stall when I stopped at a junction. I'm not sure how I didn't come off it, actually. I felt it was really dangerous and I made the dealer come and fetch it.

They diagnosed a faulty throttle positioning sensor which is a common problem on the FZ6. Once it was fixed I never had the back wheel lock up again. It could be that this was the cause of your crash?

The throttle position sensor problem was sorted from the 2006 onwards bikes. The S2 versions as far as I'm aware have never suffered any problems. It was a recall on the 04 bikes from memory.

can't say I've ever had any problems with the handling in mine. It's fast enough with a good rider for the fast group at most trackdays. I've always found mine to be the most confidence inspiring bike I've ever ridden. what tyres are you using op?

Bridgestone Battlax - assuming they're not a bad tyre?

Had a look on ebay for a fairing kit, but could only fine then for the FZ6N ironically.

It will be good to go back on the road as soon as I can get a front wheel - just searching ebay and forums for other wheels that will fit now. They can be very expensive - c.£300.

No I think the FZ6 and XJ600n have different tyre profiles. FZ6 is 180/55-17 and XJ600n is 130/70-18.

EDIT Derp front wheel not rear. Still, it's 120/70-17 vs 110/80-17
