Saw this in classified for a very good price. As the only other bike i've got is the monkey i needed a sensible bike for everyday use/the odd job here and there. GS500 diddnt have enough grunt, and wasnt comfy at all, so this seemed the logical next step up

Went to go and purchase. After much messing around finally found someone with a van to go get it with me...small van, large bike. Wasnt going to end well

Got a few bits & pieces with it, at which point the inner chav escaped. Tbh the more i looked at it the more it reminded me of a 600 diversion with the faring on 
Removed nose fairing & bar end mirror. Fitted the dominators, the pointy mirrors off the GS500 & the chunky bar ends.

Have scince tidied up the wiring for the headlights.
To do;
Fix leaky master cylinder - It's had the plastic diagphragm guide removed by someone at somepoint & leaks badly.
Replace outer fork seal on RHS - The brake fluids leaked down, soaked into it & corroded the metal bit inside the seal causing it to all split. Doesnt leak as of yet, but needs attention before it starts to!
Figure out why it wont start - Ran perfectly fine up till when we loaded it in the van. Suspecting somethings jammed up in the carbs, or contaminated plugs at this point. Where we tipped it on its side it may have dislodged something.
Hopefully be taking this one to spain later on this year if it proves itself reliable. It's seriously comfy compared to the GS, although i'll probbably end up putting the fairing back on for that! May have to keep an eye out for a cheapy set of boxes on ebay aswell.

Lol, the dominators were a freebie. I'll be putting a proper light on it come payday & splitting em to replace the "insecure" headlamp on the monkey. They're near enough the same size anyway so with spacers it can be made to fit.
Thought they'd provoke some BCF rage

Just split them in half. Use 1 of them as the monkey light and make some spacers
OR
Mount then the other way. Vertical boi. |

Strange thing to happen. Mind, it's been started on choke a few times without a proper ride. If it fouls them up again you might check the float heights, they should be 17mm IIRC.
I never liked the dominators either, hence the ratty ebay fairing. I do have a Mk2 lamp unit you can have if you find a bowl for it - the mk1 bowls are different. Bought a whole assembly for my other Bandit so I have one spare.
I hope it does you well - I never like selling a bike I haven't ridden so invariably I let them go for a good price.

Very smooth engine on the road, especially with the plugs that grotty. If you look at em carefully the electrodes have actually worn away a little, so plugs were overdue for replacement anyway.
This arrived today. I now have brake fluid that stays in the master cylinder

Just gotta fix forks now. Left sides leaking a tiny bit of oil. Right side is a bit derpy...

Brake fluid had been dripping down various pipes/cables & ended up collecting on the fork seal & that's whats knackered it over time i reckon. Will rebuild both with genuine seals & that way i know it's all sound for spain. Cant insure till the 20th anyways, get my first years NCB then...Changes quotes and stuff.
Whats the best oil to be using? I.e Whatevers reccomended standard, thicker or what?
Pete - i'll have a look around, at the moment i'm trying to get ahold of the proper brackets aswell. If i've gotta buy it all individually i'll definately take you up on that. Just a case of whatever comes up at the right price/time. Irritatingly i have a GS500 bowl upstairs that needs paint, but is otherwise okay. Dont suppose the MK2 light would fit in that? It looks very much like a MK1 bowl, so im not sure it'd go  Offer is greatly appreciated!

Didn't you like those wavy-petal discs? I thought they looked a bit pants but I wouldn't have spent money changing them unles they were shot, not for a work bike.
