Got a bit done today, tanks off and stripped back, still had its stickers under all that paint, lazy little Evil or Very Mad Hand scrapped and rubbed down.. Shocked

Pipes off as well, getting a spit and polish.

Some good progress this week, I have spent hours, stripping, rubbing down, painting at polishing almost the entire bike. Rolling Eyes There was an enormous amount of brushed on silver and gold paint on everything, the top and bottom yolks, barrel, head, engine casing, hubs, nuts, literately on everything Sick

So a few process pictures Thumbs Up

https://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y87/NitroCowBoy/BIKE/Honda%20rebuild%202015/20150323_104311_zps5pwn7pxz.jpg

The tank stripped back to bare metal, this along with the side panels and cafe seat are at the spray shop (These are the only parts to be professionally painted)

https://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y87/NitroCowBoy/BIKE/Honda%20rebuild%202015/20150323_144914_zpspivw4fhq.jpg

Stripping the swing arm..
https://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y87/NitroCowBoy/BIKE/Honda%20rebuild%202015/11150549_10153148001499020_300934807717298156_n_zps3tkofuif.jpg

and tarted up with hammerite.
https://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y87/NitroCowBoy/BIKE/Honda%20rebuild%202015/22824_10153148010684020_6439367789300158204_n_zpsicrvngqm.jpg

Wheels refurbed, spokes and nipple painted with hammerite, also the brake arms. Hubs rubbed back and hand polished to a reasonable shine ( I may take these a bit further using a drill buffer) But pretty shiny for hand done Twisted Evil
https://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y87/NitroCowBoy/BIKE/Honda%20rebuild%202015/11150534_10153154122844020_4265958718285619163_n_zpscmtbyzhi.jpg

https://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y87/NitroCowBoy/BIKE/Honda%20rebuild%202015/20150411_180454_zps348per6b.jpg

The frame was given a good few coats of hammerite and been baking in the sun for a few days... Tidied up the wire loom, cutting away any surplus and re doing any broken connections..
https://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y87/NitroCowBoy/BIKE/Honda%20rebuild%202015/20150411_180442_zpslfynmx27.jpg

Barrel and head off, again covered in brushed on paint Sick
https://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y87/NitroCowBoy/BIKE/Honda%20rebuild%202015/20150412_131748_zpso2dtgjm0.jpg

Oh you dirty lil bstard... Plenty coke, but no marks, so this will be decoked and popped back in, the barrel sleeve is also in great nick Thumbs Up
https://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y87/NitroCowBoy/BIKE/Honda%20rebuild%202015/20150412_131755_zpswjym5tit.jpg

A little help today, from my lad, all of 10 mins Mr. Green
https://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y87/NitroCowBoy/BIKE/Honda%20rebuild%202015/20150412_134625_zps23xwpjv8.jpg

4 hours later, sore fingers and aching shoulder it's stripped and ready to paint with high heat aluminum paint (Spray not bloody brush)
https://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y87/NitroCowBoy/BIKE/Honda%20rebuild%202015/20150412_183829_zpsyk6c7rb3.jpg

Everything has been prepped by hand, no chemicals, just hard graft Twisted Evil

Looks really good Thumbs Up

Carry on with all this stripping and painting lark and you won't be able to call it a "ratty" racer anymore though.

So a little bit done today, I'm feeling rough with man flu Sick
Stripped the front shocks and cleaned/re filled and rebuilt. New oil, new gaitors, and onto the nicely refurbed yolks Thumbs Up I'm yet to fit a new steering lock, (Need to find fixing screws, these were the only screws stripped during strip down) Not bad   Thumbs Up
https://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y87/NitroCowBoy/BIKE/Honda%20rebuild%202015/20150420_120825_zpsnfxnvezl.jpg

Fitted onto the frame, with a nice new single light, new cables routed through, everythings hand tight for now to see how she'll look. I have to strip to frame and build out front as the bike wont go through the house Evil or Very Mad
I also fitted a new sprocket set and a new set of cush drive rubbers in the rear wheel. (no pics)

So she is almost done, just waiting on a new battery, ignition switch and top chain guard. The exhaust needs fitting, tank badges need fitting back on, then I can fire her up to check the electrics, before booking an MOT Thumbs Up

I decided to keep the air box and panels, instead of a bell filter, my mate done such a nice job on the panels, along with the tank and seat hump, it would have been rude not to use them Twisted Evil

I've also not yet fitted rearsets as i'd planned, I need some assistance for this, ie welding tabs on the frame for fitting.
a few other bits to do, I want to add a silver stripe down the middle of the tank and seat. Maybe a subtle decal, here and there and I'd like to change that side stand, for something a little less conspicuous. I also need to either make a filler piece to fit between the tank and seat or make different bracket, so the seat can be fitted further forward.

Having a few electrical issues, so she's still sat waiting to be fire up, I stripped back the wire loom yesterday, ready to investigate Sunday... Electrics is the one thing I hate playing about with, but now the loom is stripped of it's age old insulation tape, it seems much clearer to follow the Haynes wiring diagram Rolling Eyes

The electrics on my MT5 are always playing up as well. I think it's to do with six volt electrics being puny. I don't know if the H100 runs 12V or 6V though? I can't do electrics, luckily my dad used to be a BT engineer so he can help me when I need it. Thumbs Up

I've got 2 weeks to get her going, she's booked in at a local classic bike show for the end of the month, I really want her running and on the road by then Rolling Eyes

I've replaced the wire above and had a further tidy up of the loom. My spark is back Thumbs Up , but she still hasn't fired up Thumbs Down
Next step I suppose is to check the carb out for any blockages...

Those hands are clean, should have seen em after i removed the aged insulation tape from the loom Mr. Green

I also did a little mini resto today, the horn was bolted up under the frame, I took it off spit and polish and remounted on the lower yoke, where it belongs, Nice and shiny now too Mr. Green I'll add a pic tomorrow.. Thumbs Up

After a several failed attempts to fire her up, I finally took off the carb for a look, the screws were rusted fast, after a few choice words, mole grips and some brute force, I cracked it open...

Striped and cleaned and put back on the bike, I replaced the fuel pipe, kicked her over and she fired up on the first kick Twisted Evil

All electrics work, lights, horn and ignition all A OK Thumbs Up So she's booked for a MOT this Friday Mr. Green

Please keep the sidestand, it's my favourite part. Smile

It feels like it should come with a sound effect like one of those spring-type doorstops (maybe you could attach one that it plunks every time you put the stand down).

Vinyl wrap would make a good job of your tank stripe and without damaging the paintwork underneath. They do various metallic effects too. Long thin strips are often available as offcuts from when people have wrapped cars so check ebay. Try for the proper 3M controltac stuff, its WAY better quality than any of the other stuff on the market.

Hahaha That made me laugh Stinkwheel.. boing Mr. Green

I have recently bought an open face helmet with 3 white stripes, (not my daily bash, more for meeting/shows etc) so will likely to be matching the bike stripes in white also Wink I will take a look on the bay for some of the wrap stuff Thumbs Up https://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y87/NitroCowBoy/BIKE/Honda%20rebuild%202015/20150518_110246_zpsultws4ij.jpg
