Not going to spend too much on the place. It's rented so there's only so much I can do and even so, I don't want to be spending my money on making my landlord's house better for the next tenants!

We've only 2 bikes and a huge drive, but I don't like the idea of leaving the bikes out around here, despite them being chained and alarmed. It's also nice to have somewhere to work on the bikes regardless of the weather or time taken.

Luckily, this house comes equipped with a nice man cave. However it's currently full of junk:

https://i.imgur.com/6iA5gfp.jpg

Those double doors at the back, behind me, are boarded up and inaccessible from the other side (you'll see why).

We did a bit of shuffling around and gained some floor space. We'll get the landlord to come and get rid of all this trash from here. It's a waste of space.

I cut open the doors thanks to my latest investment... a saw Very Happy Here's what we're dealing with accessibility wise from the other side of those doors Mr. Green
https://i.imgur.com/hvTUuC1.jpg

I'm not just pointing at a load of random grass there. I'm facing in the direction of the entrance lane to the garage... Laughing

A bit of work later with no garden tools and some leather gloves to protect my hands from spikes:

https://i.imgur.com/gve7FjX.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/bmgCvQt.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/5xwSHFv.jpg

Got quite a lot of space in there to work with! Once all that trash down the right hand side is gone, we'll be able to get loads in there!

Now... let's explore this 'entrance' road a little more Mr. Green

The door underneath the tree on the right hand side is my one. I'm standing on the entrance road.

And I turn around 180 degrees:
https://i.imgur.com/ERpfyDs.jpg

Follow it down:
https://i.imgur.com/1Gjv5U4.jpg

Keep following:
https://i.imgur.com/UKsiBvy.jpg

And then we come out the other side Very Happy Once I'm out, here's what it looks like from the outside:
https://i.imgur.com/d3h97df.jpg

My immediate plans are to simply keep it all. I'll clear the brambles out of the way and move any sharp rocks or what not. Other than that, I like my secret entrance! The bikes can handle a little bit of grass to get in and out. They'll build their own path in no time.

So I posted some pictures and got a message from my friend saying that he had a petrol strimmer and hedge cutter if I wanted to borrow them. Brilliant. Mr. Green

Hopefully I'll have that today or tomorrow so I can clear all the grassy areas before heading off to Spain.

Found some lovely spiders so far.

If there were many green lanes around here, I'd love one!

sell the furniture. you got 3 bentwood chairs, usually 20-50 each on ebay if you clean em up a bit. should pay for some improvements to the cave. better than letting your landlord cash in.

nice find though, you'll feel like batman going up your secret passage to the man cave

Thumbs Up

I'd like to sell it, but it's presently not mine to sell. I could speak to the land lord I suppose. Say to him that if he likes, we could clear it out rather than him but the goods in there are ours to do with what we like.

Then we could bung some of the stuff on eBay and tip the rest. But on the other hand cleaning is not my forte.. Laughing

On a side note, my friend came over today and left me with 2 presents. Winning!

Finally, an update! After much nagging, the landlord finally arranged for our skip to be delivered.

It turned up at 8am, I was not expecting that!

https://i.imgur.com/PiyaVWD.jpg

Now just to wait for the landlord to clear it all out. I'll give them to the end of the week before I start kicking up a fuss.

As soon as the landlord has gone, I'm going to rewire the garage. I'm waiting until he's finished because technically I'm not allowed to play with electricity. I'm only colourblind, what could possibly go wrong? Laughing

On a side note, can anybody tell me what this is? Confused

It's a wire which runs up and out of the kitchen to the roof. It then goes from the roof to the garage. The wire from the kitchen to the roof is a single core insulated wire. The wire from the roof to the garage roof is a single core uninsulated wire.

https://i.imgur.com/4y9LabR.jpg

It leads to this metal pole on the roof of the garage, which has either collapsed now or been purposefully knocked down.

https://i.imgur.com/Lkp6rqF.jpg

The pole comes through the garage roof, with the wire still attached and then the wire trails off over the cross beam.

https://i.imgur.com/XEgQrzJ.jpg

It would appear that the wire has been cut off in the kitchen and the remaining wire has simply been left there because removing it would require effort. The wire going from the pole in to the garage has also been cut off inside of the garage. So neither sides of this wire do anything any more.

I can't quite figure out what it would have been used/needed for? Confused

I haven't found anything relating to a telephone setup in the garage. I did however find an old alarm setup which has been disconnected. I wonder if it could have been a part of that possibly.

I started stripping out all of the wiring and tidying up today. I did a little before work this morning and a fair chunk afterwards.

https://i.imgur.com/klV4V2W.jpg

The wiring is (was)... top notch... throughout the entire structure Mr. Green

https://i.imgur.com/ZJSPla2.jpg

I also did a little repair work on one of the work benches. The surface was dropping as it was lacking support (looks to have fallen out of the cut-out in the wall).

https://i.imgur.com/XrIJrCF.jpg

I decided that the best thing to do to repair it was just to build a new leg.

https://i.imgur.com/KKf7czQ.jpg

I have a fairly large pile of junk to throw out, but other than that the floor space is looking quite large and usable.

https://i.imgur.com/8EFKpwA.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/89fEdp2.jpg

Once the garage has been finished and I have some money together, I'll be able to get started on project Thundercat!

Here's a picture of all of the wiring that was stripped out. Most of it is usable for the future. I wont be installing too many light fittings or plug sockets though as I plan on running the garage from a plug socket, so I must be careful not to have too much draw.
