I reckon you had more girlies as a youngster because you were presumably in a more permanent mode of living. Travelling around and doing stuff and maintaining a large social circle means you're probably more unsettled and don't get chance, or see chance, to 'find' someone. I've thought about this myself and wondered if it may apply to me. I'm studying in London, where I don't intend to stay afterwards, and am currently in China for a year, which is obviously just for a year. Everything seems to be constantly up in the air.
Having said that, a Korean girl here is apparently into me. Heh, I guess learning the language for my ex is paying off now. Either way, she's only here until January so, if anything even were to happen, my point about impermanence still stands. |

Well I have been living semi-permanently at uni in plymouth for the last 3 years, so I do have a good-sized network of "home" friends.
Due to not having a parental home to return to over the summer, I just went travelling instead each year, as you get way for fun for your buck than just renting a house in the UK.
I should imagine that at least in part, it is a result of the ages of my plym (and surrounding area) mates. Unlike most students, who generally hang with other students, I made friends in the psytrance scene (hippies basically) who generally were locals (odd student amongst them) and 4/5 years older than me. When I met them, I was 20/21 and I'd say the average age for them was about 26/27 and upwards.
While obviously its not a big enough of a difference to affect your ability to make friends, hang out and have a good time, it's not common for girls in mid-to-late twenties to want to date 20 year old guys.... It was amusing that whilst I was older than most of the people on my course, bar the odd mature student, I was the baby of the group on nights out and parties etc
You are right in a sense though, about every March or so I'm think:
"Well there's been no gf in the last (academic) year, I'm about to go travelling in a month or two, I guess that's about it for this year then..."
I'm not going travelling single, gotta indulge the ol' holiday/festival/travelling fuck fantasy amirite , unless said gf is travelling with me which is pretty unlikely. Thus every year it gets to the point where getting a gf (assuming that would happen) and getting all attached and shit is more hassle that it is worth given imminent travel plans.

I had a horrendous week at work. Sheer hell. Work, come home, eat, collapse into bed, no joke.
I think the universe took pity on me, and let me spend 12 hours naked and entwined with that very pretty girl this morning. ____________________ Previous: 2002 Honda CB500 (sold), 2007 Suzuki SV650SK6 (crashed), 2005 Yamaha FZ6 Fazer (sold). Currently bikeless

I like bowling as a date. It's a bit juvenile but there's no pressure. ____________________ Previous: GSF600, FZR600 x2, ZXR750, XT600 Tenere, CB125, CZ125, ETZ 250, ER5, CCM R30, DRZ400, RF600x4, RF900x2, GS500, VTR1000F, 640 SMC, CB250 NIGHTHAWK, GT550x3, GPX750 TE610, CB500, X11x2, SV650, ZING 125, TL1000R,CB250 Superdream, CBR1100XX |

Tungtvann wrote: | Great, so my second date is planned, she loved the bowling idea, probably get some food after. But now I'm started to worry about the whole dating etiquette, kiss on the cheek when greeting? Kiss goodnight! I want her to know I like her and don't just want to be friendzoned, but I'm always worried about going too far too soon. |
Kiss on the cheek to greet: Depends on how she comes up to you. If it’s the stupid fake ‘ah so lovely to see you dahling, mwah mwah’ of posho twats where you just touch cheeks and make a kissing noise, NO. Actually kissing her on the cheek? Okay, I guess, but you think, you kiss family and warty old relatives on the cheek. Someone special you kiss on the lips.
Kissing goodnight: YES. DO THIS. Overcome your fears and do it. The last few girls I’ve been out with more than once, there was always a slight tension in the air when the time came to say goodbye, and each time I took a deep breath, figured ‘now or never’ and went for it, and each time it turned into passionate kissing with tongues and all (and once it turned into sex). It’s a cliché, there is that fear of rejection, but you won’t know until you try. If she pulls away or offers you her cheek again (I’ve had that happen too) then fine. She could just not be ready, but more likely she’s not that into you. Don’t just make it a quick peck, either.
Bowling and butt slapping: Bowling yes, butt no. Bowling is good, though, because you can use victory celebrations after a strike or spare as an excuse to make more physical contact. I think a playful hug would be better. ____________________ Previous: 2002 Honda CB500 (sold), 2007 Suzuki SV650SK6 (crashed), 2005 Yamaha FZ6 Fazer (sold). Currently bikeless

Any tips for a newbie (girl) ? |
