Odd Online Dating experiances:

I went on 2 dates with one guy, both lunch time and with kids, no kissing or flirting was had . . . .

After date 2, I told him that I am not interested in anything more than friendship. To, which he responded with; 'You've actually quite hurt me.

A few months later, having had zero correspondance, I got this . . . .

'We Miss you'.

Him and his son that is (who is 2).

WTF!

I didn't reply.

A friend has had a very positive experience of POF and could not be happier, despite several false starts with a few nutters. She has even had the very new experience of going out on one of his bikes, something that had not been foreseen previously.

And she is a nice person Thumbs Up

Well it appears I have no back bone.

Women from my third experience has been in contact again, and I replied. Sorted out a third date for next week at hers!

Third date still equals sex right?

Ive had experience of POF and badoo, both goodish, both have their fair share of false profiles, but mostly ok, met a few birds off each, some shagging within the hour as it was pre-arranged and some were 2-3 dates in before nakedness ensued. But overall, yeah, desperate slags.

Frowned upon I think.

Be careful though, my mate Jason thought he was getting lucky, and as they were getting down to business, the girl* stood up and pissed all over him. People on POF are weird.

*approximate description, I think I'd be more attractive in a bra and knickers than her.

Just read through this post and got a good giggle! I do love a good dating horror story or three! But, seriously, I'd say POF is as good as any means of meeting someone. It allows you to meet people you'd not normally cross paths with.
Met my current bf on there four months ago, and we're still together - and he's the reason I finally got my bike! Wanted one for years, and getting to ride pillion just cemented the idea Smile
I'd not necessarily say use POF - find the dating site that's right for you Smile
And yeah, as a female you do get waaay more messages than the average guy, but that doesn't stop us looking - I'm not adverse to making the first move.

I've looked at POF, but am too scared to put a full profile or pictures up. Some of the ladies do look nice, but I'm an ugly git so see no real point as all the ladies would be very let down if the ever were daft enough to meet up with me.

Yeah, I've done the online dating thing...tried PoF, OKCupid and GirlsDateForFree, but usually find I get contacted by lardy old blokes who posted a picture of themselves about 15years younger, so if we've met up, they end up approaching me because I don't recognise them! Why lie? It doesn't make sense... Shocked Laughing

Or I get contact by blokes half my age, and while it's flattering...there is no way they are relationship material...and I'm not interested in having a notch on the bed-post...

I dip in and out of these websites during the winter months. More often than not the blokes on them either want a shag or a long term pen-pal, they are not there for a date. Neutral

Indirectly, PoF is responsible for me being a biker!

I met a nice bloke through PoF, nice bloke was a biker and got me interested in it. Almost 3yrs later the nice bloke is now my husband and I have the Volusia Smile

I think I was lucky to find someone decent though. Hubbs had met a few girls before me and had some bad experiences and I got messaged by some considerably less than savoury types, who needless to say I ignored!

Clanger you talk a lot of sense I would say.

Can see both sides to all this, but firstly no one has really said why there's all these blokes on POF etc? I'm stereotypical and I just don't see the vast majority of blokes being arsed to spend time money and effort on proper dating sites?

I know both sex's have plenty of interaction on the fun and chuck type websites, from what I've seen and these kinds of sites seem to be pretty equal in M/F ratio's looking for the same thing as they don't need to dress it up as dating and meeting a soul mate etc. Both also obviously have at least equally promiscuous attitudes and interests too.

Lastly saying that a lot of blokes either want a fling or a pen pal/shoulder to cry on may well be true, but I think on average men find it hard to piece together all the separate emotions and components that make up a serious LTR, in any potential person. It's just a man thing I guess, where as women do still have the ideal sometimes that the ideal or pretty close to it bloke exists that can be everything to them and fulfil all relationship needs to their ideal standard? Or if not that they can shape them into doing so?

Hope I'm not coming across as an arsehole here though, it's just my view/observations and I haven't said which is wrong or right etc?
