Ended up trading the R1 as I was getting bored of it and got something completely different.

Say hi to the tractor TL1000S Thumbs Up

and the mileage...

But it doesn't really matter when you have this noise... sorry for the short video, stone cold engine, really echoes down the road I'm on and the camera appears to make it sound far more "legal" than it is Laughing

It is probably dangerous now, I've removed the damper. Laughing Low speed stuff is just so bad, so I'll change the oil inside the damper when I find some really lightweight oil.

It is clean, I've had to iron out some issues, like injector seals breaking and injectors being loaded with gunk, along with spark plugs that broke down under load...and restricted inlets Laughing

So far, I think it is a great bike, hopefully it stays clean, I'd like it to, it isn't an all weathers bike and I'm not even riding it to the BBQ because its just that nice. Thumbs Up

Yeah, apparently a few went out with the sight glass in the wrong place, they've all been changed by now I would have thought.

Enjoy it. Thumbs Up

Wow Paddy, seems like you only had the R1 for 5mins....actually, 5mins is over doing it.
Thinking though, why not, different ride each month, nice.

Was sat in left lane of roundabout, a TL1000, an SP1 and a ZZR1400 pulled up next door. My bike and body just shook. Didn't even hear the ZZR1400. The TL was kind of how I'd think fracking the north at 1,500rpm would be like. Epic bike.

After a week you'll have 10ft long arms Smile

Don't need a damper if the front wheel is always in the air.

Explains the rock solid socks Laughing

But no, I will find a perfect bike at some point.

If they did a 350 Varadero... I'd be in heaven.

Really? I've not noticed any bad handling once you are up over 10mph or so.

I can only speak for one I rode for a few hundred KM in NZ (on twisty mountain roads). It was a fairly tidy example with a recent rear damper service. It was quite memorable as it handled rather well at 100% commitment and at was fine for a bimble. Anything inbetween was a nightmare. It just wouldn't hold a line and the feel from the suspension was best described as numb. Admittedly, that was a sample of one, so is by no means universally representative.

On the plus side, the engine was a peach, and it was a lot of fun to ride 'balls out'. So I'd have one.

I was touring on a virtually new Firestorm and had access to a '97 GSXR-750 at the same time and (for different reasons) I'd say both provided much more consistent and predictable handling.

Possibly a little off topic, but Paddy how do you go around sorting insurance out if your buying a new bike every few months or so? Do you not have to pay the extortionate "admin fee" for changing any details (i.e. your bike)?

I can't speak for Paddy but not all insurers take the piss with fees. I've been with Carole Nash for a number of years and changed bikes frequently. There are no nominal fees for adding/removing bikes from the policy, so long as they qualify under the terms of the policy. Obviously, any additional premium is payable when changing bikes, and they do withold part of a refund in the case that the premium is lower with a new bike.

Very Clean TLS there Paddy!

better than the R1?

They do sound very evil and menacing and have the performance advantage over the VTR, but given the choice id still go for a VTR everytime, and throw a grand at one to make it handle and stop well and breath a bit better.

Id I had lots of grand's to chuck around, I'd be straight into the Moriwaki catalogue and fapping all over all the trick bits i'd be buying! Laughing
