fail. you're not telling me that running a bearing on very thin oil (mixed with petrol, thins it even more) at a rate of a shot glass full every 10 mins (roughly, say 45mpg at 50 - 1, 45mph) is a better environment than in a sealed gearbox being soaked / splashed in oil?

Does petrol perish the seals, then remove the grease?

I wouldn't have thought so because the seals are still touched by petrol/oil mix when they are saturated by the crank mixture.

Anyway this is sort of offtopic now Mr. Green

me asking why would suggest that I don't know, and would like to find out. seems like a reasonable question since my version of common sense says the gearbox is obviously a better place to run bearings than a crankcase lubricated by, at best, a fine mist of oil.

A fine mist of oil and petrol in my opinion is better as they are constantly lubed then washed

Make a topic in general chat and ask Thumbs Up

Ah, so you're telling me I fail when you don't actually know the answer or anything about it yourself?

This keeps getting better.

Please continue with your explanation in a workshop thread

100 is rebuild territory, anything around 110ish I would start buying bits. 130 or so is what you should aim for on a new rebuild Thumbs Up My RS was around 135.

Are you going to change the exhaust at all? Apparently even though Derbi fitted the underseat pipe as standard I have heard they rob power. Good project though & sounds good. Thumbs Up
