Recently passed my A2 just after the changes.

Saved up and got myself a brand new Cbr500r (Not that I could get one second hand). Enjoying it a lot at the moment and nice not to be on a 125 any more. Was told i'd have to wait till October however I managed to get one earlier Smile

Heres some pictures, just cleaned it and ACF 50'd it up.

Got some R&G protectors to put on and some reflective wheel trim as well. Thinking of changing the screen too, just looking for somewhere that does them, seems PUIG does.

Front tyre looks like it's on backwards too going by the tread pattern, but it's the same as all the others in the pictures. I wonder why the front pattern is reversed from the rear? Looks like it clears water towards the middle of the tyre.

It's correct like this. To do with traction as the tyre grips best when pushed towards the "V"

So the rear tyre is orientated for best traction under acceleration and the front for best traction under braking.

Re the Bungs - See if you can get the dealer to fit em for free on the first service while he's got the bike on the stand. He'll tell you it's an hours labour but if he's already got the fairing off it should take 10 minutes. Try the "but I'm a potential customer for life" approach. Worked for me.

Not too much in the market for me to get sadly as I can't legally restrict 95% of 600cc bikes. Its a nice bike and does the job that I want it too and I enjoy it. Quite like having something brand new. I've noticed a lot of people have a hate for this bike without proper reason, like I said does the job well for anyone with an A2.

Chain is fine, think the picture has a weird angle on it.

Most do that, it got me too, if you check the directional arrow though it is supposed to go that way even though it looks like it would force water under the tyre.

Look at pirelli angel, pilot road 2/3 etc etc, they all do it too.

Is a proper reason...

It has the CBR name badge, its not a CBR.

It is a CB500 in a dress, why not buy a CB500 used for £800 rather than that?

I'd rather do that and have money left over Laughing

Guess I am a bit of a sap for new things being all shiny and not marked Smile Either way I do enjoy the bike.

The CBR bit too me means nothing as it had no bearing on why I got it, I can see why people wouldn't like that part as its not really part of that family. However it was a nice looking 500 which did what I wanted.

Better than a yzf125r that has the dress but not got the go. At least this will get along at a decent pace. I don't mind it and as you have said, not a lot of choice for your licence and if you have the £££ why not get one.

That said what is it with a single front disc? Makes it look a bit weedy and dare I say 125ish. Penny pinching decision by Honda Thumbs Down .

I've been looking at getting a new Street Triple but had a look in a Honda dealer the other day and was quite impressed with these. Although it was a bit disappointing that there was nothing else in the Honda line-up at the moment that really caught my attention. There's obviously nothing wrong with the bigger CBRs but they're not really daily commuter material.

I know these are not really comparable to a Street Triple but it has got me wondering whether a restricted Triumph is the right thing when I could have something like this (slightly restricted) for a year or so and then get an unrestricted Triple at a later date...

Nice bike I'm sure being a honda it'll serve you well.

Don't listen to the tossers who tell you should have bought some second hand pile of crap just because they are either too tight or too poor to buy a new bike!

Thumbs Up

It's a tidy looking bike and will likely serve you well Wink. Plenty enough power to have a laugh around the twisties.

How many miles have you done on her so far?

Ignore the haters, it's a nice new bike that's perfect for where you are at and will likely give many smiles.

Good job on the ACF50, best stuff ever. I'd recommend muc off miracle shine for after wash waxing, that stuffs bloody great and will keep your girl shiny on the sun.

Thumbs Up

I am enjoying the bike a lot at the moment, im not much of a fast rider at the moment and it getting up to 110mph is plenty for me. I know my limits Smile

Looking to get a slip on in the next few months

Done just over 800 miles on it at the moment, just had it over 2 weeks. ACF50 does wonders, will top it up around October for my winter commuting. Will give Muc Off Miracle Shine a go as a lot of other stuff doesnt seem to work that well.
