Hey all,

As some of you may have seen I am looking for a track bike to use as I don't want to end up crashing my everyday bike.
I have been recommended to get an old CBR600 jellymould but these seem a little out of my price range.

I have seen a few GPZ400 and GPZ600s for sale and wondered if these would be any good for the odd trackday?

Any advice would be great Thumbs Up

Thanks,

Not really to be honest. Sure you can ride it on the track and have fun but I think you'll quickly find the limits of it and it will hold you back improving.

What's your budget?

I'd agree - go for a better bike.

A better bet might be to not crash?

You're in a situation where there's a pretty smooth surface, no oncoming traffic and you're doing the same piece corners 100 times in a day.

You've got to be a bit of a twat to crash on a trackday.

I've done it twice. Both under braking with cold tyres (once towards the end of a session in the wet on supercorsas, the other taking a bad line to avoid another rider at the start of a session in the dry/damp).
Both easily avoided by not being a twat Wink.

Crashed tens of times racing and in race practices, but that's a little different.

On a trackday, if you make sure you only get quicker a little at a time and back off when limits are pushed, you should be fine Thumbs Up.
