Its hard to say from the pics

if the bolt centers are 90mm they should both fit

They both are 90mm, but one caliper is late 80's / early 90's and the other one, the smooth one, is late 90's. I was just curious, if I should aim for the newer one or it does not matter.

I'm sticking this here as its a list of bikes that all all have 90mm caliper mounting distance. Some are 6 pot tokico crapiness but at least its a full list of the bikes that use Nissins too.

Another question, there are quite a lot of tokico's that look exactly the same as nissins, what's their deal? Thinking
There are also older tokicos that look like those nissins in the picture Thumbs Up

personally I wouldnt go tokicos again well not unless they are radial anyway

the problem with the tokicos is the groove for the oil and dust seals isn't deep enough and all the shite gets in and corrodes then this is when they go tits up and the seals start gripping pistons and not working

the nissins are about 3x as deep

I have rebuilt loads of calipers and never seen a bad nissin yet!!

In fact I have just done a set of nissin calipers off a 92 blade that had OE seals in and the calipers were spot on for their age!!

oh the main difference with the two calipers above is teh piston size

30 and 24 for the tokico

34 and 30 for the nissin

you get more pressure with less effort with the nissin

plus on the nissin the bleed nipple is at the very highest point not like the tokico

this makes bleeding a dodle where as the tokico's are a right twat to bleed trust me I have spent plenty of hours on my TL trying to bleed them! but with the nissins 20 mins tops and all done

I'm gonna go for nissin, then. There is one set of those in the last picture I've posted. They're from '89 GSXR1100, quite cheap. I'm gonna look around for the newer ones, if nothing, then I'm gonna give a chance to those old ones. Thank you Stu, you helped me alot. Thumbs Up

£40 for a chopped down standard end can? No wonder he accepted Laughing

The Nissins are the better brakes imo.

Working it out the area of the piston on the Tokicos is 1280mm^2 (per caliper half) compared to 1615mm^2 for the Nissans. So with the same master cylinder you need more lever movement for the same piston movement with the Nissans, which likely also means more feel.

All the best

I contacted the seller of those nissins and I liked what he said, so I'm gonna give him the 30 pounds he asks. He's gonna measure them, I just want to be sure those bolt holes are 90mm far from each other. Thumbs Up https://img.motorkari.cz/upload/images/bazar/2012-08-2/1632842.jpg

That's why I want them, if they won't be what I've expected I will clean the six pots once again, use a brand new set of seals this time. For 30 pounds it's definitely worth a try, the pads are nearly new and the seller says the calipers work well. He got some six pots, so he sells these four pots. I'm gonna just clean them and try on. Thumbs Up

I looked at ebay.de (my mate works in germany, so I'd have the shipping for free) and the only set I could find was 119,00eur, approx. 100 pounds.
There they are: https://www.ebay.de/itm/SPRINT-900-NISSIN-BREMSSATTEL-VORNE-LI-RE-OHNE-LEITUNGEN-/370920913623?pt=DE_Motorradteile&hash=item565c9bfad7

By the way, there are tons of tokico calipers 6 pots and 4 pots. I think, I'm gonna keep my 6 pots because there's no way I'm gonna sell them for decent money. Average price of one Tokico six pot caliper here, is 100 pounds = 200 for a set. Rolling Eyes
I'd like to get Nissin six pots, but they go for a lot of money.

The paint job isn't that good, but that's not a problem. The problem I have is, that I need new bolts to fit them. Fortunately, I had some spare brake hose bolts (from CB500) that fitted well, all tokico bolts are different. It's not that easy as I thought it'd be. It's not just a quick swap if you don't have certain bolts. I'm gonna have to look around. Thumbs Up

My calipers came today and i'm pretty happy with them. The bolts have seen better days (race spec mount bolts) but the rest of the calipers are nice and clean, plus the brembo pads have plenty of meat on them.

Seems strange to me.

Both the Nissin sets ive fitted to my own bikes, zx7r and zx6r were a direct replacement. Even the bolts fitted. Both sets were from a B12/GSXR11.

I can now see the difference between 30 and 70 pounds, Nick Smile

My nissins are alright, the only thing is the paint job and those bolts that I have to find. My mate got me some bolts, that I'm gonna try tomorrow. If nothing, then I'm gonna have to pay 13 pounds for 4 bolts. Rolling Eyes
I'm gonna try the calipers on the bike and paint it during the winter break, the seller must have used wrong paint or didn't clean them before he got paint on it.

I can measure the mount bolts if you wanted so you can try and source them from somewhere else?

Well, I think you're right, evoboy. Anyway, these things should be even ''stronger'' than the original thread, so I'm gonna use them. But what about the hose bolts? There's no such a thing as helicoil there and the tokico bolts won't fit in there. CB500's brake hose bolts fit just fine. It sure is odd. Thinking

So when you planning on swapping?

If all goes to plan, hopefully i'll get mine done on Sat morning. The weekend looks dry over here so will give me a chance to give them a good run in and see how they feel.
