Back in 2009 I bought an NC23 ready for when I passed my test, it sat idle until April 2010. I kept myself busy tidying it up and giving it a once over service wise, then used it for a year until I got my NC30.

https://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb73/sam_billing_91/Side1.jpg

I went through several different exhausts, stock with carbon can, stock with stumpy ART, stainless with both, mild steel Moriwaki EMU and finally an aluminium DIC system. All of these have since been sold after I picked up a full BEET system. Aside from that I didnt really mess about woth it too much.

https://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb73/sam_billing_91/CBR400RR%20NC23/IMG_2358a.jpg

I've stripped the road gear off, so far saving over 5kg.

https://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb73/sam_billing_91/CBR400RR%20NC23/DSCF0370.jpg

Here's a proposed spec list for when I'm done;

- Beet titanium exhaust system with Nassert alloy end can
- Fibreglass stock shape bodywork, clear double bubble screen
- NSR 17in rear wheel, matching NC30/29/35 front (unsure on tyres)
- Shortened velocity stacks and foam air filter
- Samco hoses
- NC30 fork lowers to allow...
- NC30 4 pot Nissin calipers with EBC Prolite discs and HH pads
- Fancy rear shock (Nitron likely)

Its in a much further state of disassembly atm, plus this is a little more unusual to see at a trackday Smile

Maybe, will see how things go. For now I'll run the CBR on track and the R1 for the road Smile

Cbr400 ain't going to be great on track, best selling it as a good road bike. The rvf400's and zxr400's offer more tuning that will make the cbr slow in the formula 400 class.....and things like the RGV/aprillia and kr1/s a fair bit better handling....it is a fun class to race in tho so if your in it for the fun then alls good but a clean baby blade should go for good £££ and better putting the money towards something else as your development of the cbr will hit a wall quickly. 250's are making 65-73 bhp and the 400's are making upwards of that ....quick ones 80+ dyna pro bhp....more if on a dyno jet dyno

Swapped the front wheel, waiting on delivery of the rear. I've got a bunch of parts on order, gaskets, bearings, fork seals/bushes.

Got my freshly powder coated NSR250 rear wheel through, ordered cush drive donuts and some fresh wheel bearings. Going to have one of my nice fronts sent away to match up now! Gaskets will be on the way monday, but need £110 for a clutch kit as I remember it slipped above 11k Sad

NSR250 MC21 wheel ready for bearings, tyre etc. Lovely fresh powder coat Smile

Tomorrows list of jobs include doing the fork leg swap, cleaning the engine up ready for when I have the money to get some new coolant hoses.

Got an email yesterday, I have wheel bearings and cush drive rubbers arriving monday, a full clutch rebuild kit, sump gasket and timing cover gasket arriving tuesday and a rear tyre arriving wednesday. Hopefully I can get it all together and bike shaped by wednesday night!

Got this reserved for when I have more money. Got all kinds of adjustment including the all important ride height to compensate for the lost half inch from fitting the 17 rear.

Cush drive rubbers in, struggled a bit to begin with, then remembered I have a big tub of bearing grease. After that it was a doddle, also got wheel bearings in, but forgot pics.

Good tip for next time is to mask off the areas you don't want any powder coat Thumbs Up

I'll be refurbing mine like this once I have done the shakedown and know the bike is all working properly and as it should.

Then I can make it look less tatty.

The most together its been in nearly 3 years! Yesterday was mostly gasket scraping then fitting the sump and timing covers with gaskets obtained from GF Racing. Also got the new clutch pack in, after extensive head scratching before borrowing the use of a buzzgun to get the clutch nut off!

Today I just need to nip the clutch nut up and replace the gasket and I'm sorted once I remember where I hid the dipstick!

Got 7 of the old crusty studs out but the eighth is being a barstard and refusing to budge, so tomorrow will go and get a can of gas for my blowtorch and get some heat into it, see if it changes its mind then!

Mocked up the pipes, think I need to bend the can brackets, it sits round too far and looks odd. Failing that I'll just fit my spare carbon oval

I have an NC29 front wheel and discs for you. It looks like shit and needs a new bearing but the discs appear good.

Heat worked in a roundabout way! Welded my old scrap pair of molegrips onto it. 3000 odd degrees got it shifting.

Buying the RVF kind of pushed this to the back of my mind, tomorrow will hopefully see a push to have both ends sorted suspension wise, race shock in and fork bottoms swapped and the NC30 calipers on Smile

Will be waiting for next friday to come round so I can order the matching front tyre and some coolant hoses so I can get it running again for the first time in 3 years Thumbs Up

Yesterday was a complete nonstarter and today may as well have been! Got pulled into work on an emergency shift half way through modifying one of the fork legs :/

I did manage to get the race shock in however, cleaned and greased the linkage while I was there.
