So my old Bandit 600, having been the only big bike I had ever ridden.. I didn't get why it was disliked so much.. Now I know why.

Got hold of my new Thundercat today and Jesus Christ what a difference! Understood it's only a 600.. but it felt so effortless compared to the bandit.. I calmly rolled the throttle back in 3rd only to look down and I was doing upwards of three figures Shocked

Whereas at this point I would have been holding on for dear life on the Bandit and it would be screaming.. All I can say is just wow. I fully understand why it's nicknamed the Blandit.

Anyway here she is.. Fantastic condition.

Is that a BT021 on the front? If so they'd have to pay me to fit it... fucking lethal in the wet and wear really weird..

Nice bike though, I had one last year and it was very comfy and felt probably the most stable <2000 year model bike I've ridden on the road Thumbs Up Also can't really see the headers but if they are not stainless, get saving. Utter bastards Thumbs Up

Didn't seem too bad riding back, especially it being a brand new tyre, and it was wet in Bristol, will do some research on them though.

And yes! they are stainless! Excellent condition aswell Thumbs Up

I know

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/yamaha-yzf-600-thundercat-/181256478979?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&nma=true&si=VC%252BMZ2TA1s4PubXXXmqsRylZa1U%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

The guy had it 6 month and fitted a load of anodized crap, carbon can, clear tail light, smaller mirrors, new indicators, yoke protector, stainless steel brake pipes, stainless steel down pipes and removed the carbon frame protector.

Very nice bike Matt! Thumbs Up

I've always liked Cats and Aces too!
The Cat and the Triumph TT600 were about equal 2nd on my shortlist way back when I brought a new 600cc. If I hadn't of got the great deal I did on my ZX6R, I'd have just as happily owned either the Yam or Triumph, and would have had either way before I'd ever buy an Alloy framed CBR600F after my disappointment of a test ride on one.

that pic made me laugh out loud...properly..
Love it.

Good looking bikes...The fairing probably makes the biggest difference compared to your old bandit...try riding a superbike without fairings...huge difference.

It does! Just rode back in pissing rain and heavy wind, relatively dry!

Can confirm they were fairly planted in the rain, wasn't crawling either.. didn't feel uneasy around any corners. Maybe you were just unlucky Wink

I'm not the only one, think Pete. on here had the weirdest front tyre when he finally removed it, it was like an egg.

Lovely bike OP
I've just moved from a bandit to triumph sprint st 1050 so I know exactly what you mean. Although with a bigger engine I guess that helps.
Well done on the purchase, she is lovely

Nice machine Matt Thumbs Up

Seems like you had a good deal there - with the stainless headers in good nick.

Will be looking out for something along the lines of this myself now that my CB is gone.

Enjoy!

Amazing bike you must be a genius to find such a lovely looking bike (I don't have the exact same bike colour etc... Wink )

Paid £1000 for mine delivered but that was a one off, looking on ebay it looks decent for the money compare to what a lot of them are going for Thumbs Up

Haven't rode mine much but from the short experience I've had with it it has offered good wind protection, very comfortable, decent mpg, decent handling although not amazing suspension and smooth power delivery.

Imagine it to be amazing for touring with a USB port, bigger screen and panniers. All fitted to mine at the moment and at that cc I can't think of anything more suitable for the job. Not as high strung as a modern sports bike but it was once a successful sports bike back'a day and was made for racing so it can still keep up with the newer bikes. First 600 to make 100bhp I believe? So still pretty quick.

Looking at one of these myself for a first big bike Mr. Green

Found one and the guy wants £1100 and the mileage stands at 16.5k.

It looks pretty decent so fingers crossed!

As per what Paddy is saying: BT021's are shit.

I wore the edges of mine down to 0mm tread but it barely wore in the middle so ended up with a V-shaped tyre. Replaced with another (2nd hand for £10, couldn't complain) which i'm using now in the winter weather and it's fairly shite. Pilot Power 2CT's are the bogs dollocks. However I opted for a Pilot Road 3 on the rear for the winter after trashing a 2CT in about 4000 miles. The Road 3 seems to be doing it's job: dispersing water. However it's dispersing it all over the rear end of my bike!!!

As for going from the Bandit to the faired bike: I had a Bandit 400 then bought my CBR. In terms of outright excitement, the Bandit wins hands down. I felt so right on that bike. Loved it.
The fairings and solid build of the CBR is great, but it's boring and it's 40bhp more... The feeling of speed is numb and if I throw myself into a corner, I don't get the same thrill that I had when scraping the pegs on the Bandit.
