Hi everyone,

Thought it would be quite a cool idea to see what everyone's other projects are. Can be anything, car, boat, house etc you get the idea.

My current toy/project started like this:
https://i944.photobucket.com/albums/ad290/wilz1234/Mini%20Project/IMAG0775.jpg

And after a year now looks like:
https://i944.photobucket.com/albums/ad290/wilz1234/Mini/DSC_0051_zps378d8b35.jpg

Show us what you've got

There's the 3D printer in my signature. I'm waiting on a delivery of parts for another machine in a similar vein, too. I'll post a show and tell thread when I've got enough bits together to do it.

Current project. Bought back in May, all working fine for about 4 flights. Starter motor then quit due to it being a dodgy fit that over the years wore the connecting wiring into the side of the fuel tank (making a hole). Got stashed in hanger while I had other stuff to think about. Fuel tanks slowly dissolving due to ethanol in petrol eating the stuff they're made of = big lumps of shit in the fuel. Replacement aluminium tanks made at great expense.

Whole thing dis-assembled, put in lorry and moved to new home in Swindon, where there's room to work on it. Starter motor ditched and replaced by pull-start. New tanks fitted. Currently awaiting some minor electrical work and a new permit. In the new year... to the skies!!

Fook me! I didn't know you were into flying Bendy? Cool project and hobby! Is that an ultralight, and what make/model and what engine does it have Rotax?

Erm, my other projects are to finish landscaping the garden and build a big shed, not started yet!

And to get my little car on the road at last and fit some decent parts to it!

been getting into working with leather recently for a few different projects and costume things.

Satchel matching Cad Bane's in TCW animated series
https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3771/10307687845_c8888f5011_b.jpg

next up. TF2 sniper ammo pouch

made the patterns and cut them out allowing for the stitch seams
https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3758/10617734316_3f39ccda85_b.jpg

and voila
https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2849/10617975063_8560c2eb62_b.jpg
https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5524/10617732004_f61f03681a_b.jpg

https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3757/10617699795_4030382d6b_b.jpg

the snipers pouch is quite worn with no shine so I decided to keep it that way and not wax it. I also stitched in one continuous stitch so you get a nice constant stitch through-out the length of the pouch.

then a TF2 pyro ammo pouch

ref:

and complete

https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5537/10617793754_6bbc7571a4_b.jpg

Latest thing has been leather tooling, creating patterns etc..

Thought I'd do the good son thing and make a couple of things for my parents. I've done a clutch purse for my mum with a pic of a bichon (our dog) on it and I'm doing a wallet for dad with a flaming skull pattern I cobbled together from a couple of google pics I found.

Purse went from this:
https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2815/11400852484_2df97398ff_b.jpg

to

https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5531/11400969443_421ba208b5_b.jpg

Currently doing my Dads wallet.

At the dying stage at the mo I just have this:

https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3816/11432766933_4c9ed8a53f_b.jpg

and:

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7295/11432614125_654ee70c9d_b.jpg

Will be building the wallet and stitching it up over the next few days. The kits come with everything you need but you need to glue/stitch it together yourself.

It's quite simple to do, just takes some time.

so yeh... that's what I'm working on at the mo

Rickman ranger convertible, kit car based on a mk2 escort. I'm using it for classic trials. 1st one is in January, going from the Haynes museum down to Torquay, via a few hills Laughing

Nope, no 4x4 allowed Thumbs Down simply a ladder chassis with each running gear. Essentially the trials bit is trying to get up tracks and hills that you have no business trying to get up without 4wd Thumbs Up You can do it in all sorts, beetles are quite successful, people compete in Citroen saxos and stuff too. The best ones to watch are the real old classics though. If you google Simms hill trial video you should find some vids of an assortment of cars trying to climb a quite difficult hill Cool

Wilz, the Mini is looking really good and much progress has been made there!

What spec is the A-series in under the bonnet then?

I've had many mates with Mini's over the years, and despite me being into metro's when I was 17-20, a lot of my old school mates had Mini's, and the only kid who has something different was a fat kid with a Capri 2.0S, but back then a Capri was not very fashionable as what we all wanted was a hot hatch instead!

Also Capri's are scary and dangerous and I never liked going in them, due to 2kids in our school having life ending happy thrashes in 2.8i's and ending up like Paul Walker did.

Cheers man Very Happy It's a 1275 metro lump underneath, hif44 carb/rc40 exhaust. Very pokey little car Smile

Wouldn't mind a Capri at some point, but they cost an arm and a leg now Sad

Thanks Smile

Hadn't even considered it.. the above, apart from a belt and another pouch, is the sum of all the leatherwork I've ever done.. just learning the skills.

That said I see no reason why I couldn't do it, send me a pm and lemme know what you'd want (size, colour, what design etc..) and I'll have a think.

For colouring I have most shades of brown, a green and black but anything else I'd have to buy it.

Got a few on the go:

1) Minari RS 1

This is my Minari Road Sport Mk2, it started out life as a 1.5 8v Alfa Boxer engined car. For those that don't know, the Minari is a car with a fully Fibreglass monocoque and an Alfa Sud/Alfa 33 running gear (Means no chance of rust!).

When I got it it looked something like this:

https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/393250_2897365592537_1072409530_n.jpg

https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/388799_2897369792642_1624347027_n.jpg

However in true Alfa style the Brakes, Electrics and Gearbox were fucked and it pissed fuel everywhere (I actually drove it for 3 miles after the brakes failed, so that was great fun Rolling Eyes) so it soon ended up like this:

https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/425663_3609144346561_934330823_n.jpg

and now like this:

https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/217334_10201368764080382_1099637424_n.jpg

https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/968860_10201368766960454_366757143_n.jpg

To be fair to it, it had been sat in a workshop for 12 years when I bought it so I was just chancing my arm. It's now awaiting a full rebuild. I hopefully just obtained a 16v 1.7 alfa boxer from a 33 (should be collecting it on the 27th) which I'm going to rebuild and put in it once the cars been resprayed. So it's currently sitting in my workshop.

2) Minari RS 2

This is my other Minari Road Sport, it's much the same as the blue one except it's got a twin carb 1.5 engine:

https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/209020_4214594002424_383182607_n.jpg

https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/292570_4283888334739_540672676_n.jpg

https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash2/283704_4557305730003_70931192_n.jpg

Those were taken when I first got it. Needless to say, it wasn't the best built car in the world (and I'm REALLY anal about silly things) so it started to get on my nerves. Of course, the roof leaked something terrible which in turn soaked the seats. When the seats were out of the car I thought I may as well take the carpet out as well and whilst I'm there I may as well do the dash and since I'm doing that I may as well just rebuild the whole car. But since it still had T&T and insurance for a few months I stuck my carbon fibre seat in it so I could still use it:

https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/8250_10201072959485452_1994497913_n.jpg

https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/483333_10201072959845461_1623990333_n.jpg

It's currently sitting on my driveway in the rebuild queue. I'm intending for it to be the recipient of a Subaru Impreza engine and running gear much like the Murtaya (which is the evolution of the Minari). Hopefully I'll finish off the blue one by summer 2014 and be able to get started on this one.

3) The Minari RSR

This isn't much of a project at the moment but it may be soon. This is my Minari RSR (Road Sport Racing). It was build as a factory works racer and was originally owned by Ed McDonough (Whom some of you may have heard of). It's one of only 4 ever made. I'm intending to do some track days in it next year and then get it up to regs for some competitive hill climbs in 2015. It's just had a completely rebuilt engine put into it but I have a something a little bit special planned for it for 2015 (For those in the know, AHM may have something to do with it). Oh, and hopefully I'll respray it and get rid of the... "interesting" shade of green...

Oh, and before anybody compares these to an MX5, they were designed before the MX5 that they look like (the Mk2). They do however share the single head lamp units with the Mazda MX3. The other twin headlamps on the RSR (if it had any!) are from a Massey Ferguson tractor!

Oh, and sorry for the photo spam!

Just because they're smaller than an MX5, doesn't mean they didn't copy the design.

Again, have you suddenly lost the ability to read Phil? Laughing

The headlights are shared with the MX3. The car was designed and produced before the Mk2 MX5 came out or was even announced. It looks nothing like the Mk1.
