Went to a place in Finedon to ask about booking mod 1 test and saw one of these beauties in the yard.

Well looked after, looked like it had just come out of the show room. One of my dream bikes but still at least 2 years to wait yet.

I love these, especially in that colour scheme. Shame about the tacky seat though Sick

Yeah would look nicer with a completely black seat. My CBT instructor owns one, said you can sit in top gear at 20 and just open the throttle up and it'll accelerate quickly. Don't know for sure how true that is though.

I've got to wait at least 2 years be for I can even contemplate getting one of these. Sad

What happened to the good old days when you could pass your test by riding round the block then go get whatever bike you fancied and/or could afford?

oh that's right the government had to put in place all this crap and make it more difficult to obtain a motorcycle licence and ride whatever bike you want to. Yet you pass your car test at 17 and you can go by a Porsche or something if you can afford the insurance.

most riding though is purely common sense. Plus a large majority of people are still alive from when they passed there test by riding round the block. To think that the majority of motorcyclists are in there 40's + the test couldn't have all been that bad.

And the anodised red bolts and the red rim tape, some people really know how to ruin a nice bike!

I was once at world of bikes in corby and there was a gorgeous sports bike out front. Gloss black with chrome rims and "chorme" stickers but not sticker bombed. Forget what bike it was though :duh:

Cannot quite put my finger on it. Just did not gel with it. Maybe having always had sports bikes , I really did not like the power delivery and handling.
I went and bought my ZX7R before I even sold the ZRX. Head down , arse in the air.

THO WHAT DO I HAVE NOW ????

A bloody Z750. But this is soooo much fun Cool

Nope, it would look like this just out of the showroom:

https://www.suzukicycles.org/photos/GSX/GSX1400/2006_GSX1400_red2_800.jpg

It's a cool bike in nice condition but...

Branded seat
Polished swingarm
Anodised engine bolts
Rim tape
Bar ends
Radiator guard
Pointless under tray
Shiny side panel
Mini indicators

All tat. Rolling Eyes

True, in terms of condition though, immaculate.

Although In my opinion the standard exhaust doesn't look as good.

speaking of radiator guards, maybe a noob question (well no maybe about it) but does it effect the function of the radiator?

Looking at it, it reduces a fair bit of the exposed area of the radiator surly resulting in less air hitting the radiator?

I can respect an exhaust swap for performance/sound/weight saving. Probably better choices than a black adonised MTC, but it looks fine Thumbs Up

I test rode one a few years ago, and they are fantastic fun.

They rev to about 10 or something, but you need to be changing at about 6k, as these bikes are all about torque, and it trails off around there.

Handling is as you would expect, a bit spongy but very involving. They are a heavy bike so you need to muscle it about.

They sound awesome. Even sitting at the traffic lights, there is a smoooooth bassy rumble under your pants.

I have always wanted one but they hold their value well, and I just can't afford one!

Still 3k for an 01-02

Tldr. Awesome. Buy.

When I see these it makes me wonder why I chose a thundercat over it. They were roughly the same price on insurance aswell.. Then I remembered I like to stay a tad warmer and drier on my commute. Laughing

They are awesome, I prefer the later ones due to the nicer colour schemes, which is somewhat annoying because they're obviously more expensive! Don't like the early blue and white ones with white wheels.

Might make a fractional difference to the amount of heat dumped, but not enough to cause any issue.
Think about dirt bikes and mud, they manage to stay alive.
Besides that's only an oil cooler anyway.

Also, Alex A, you missed that utterly pointless screen off your list. But other than what's been pointed out its a very nice example.

Finally, a pointless piece of info that i found interesting:
According to Bikez specs: it has a Power to weight ratio of 0.46.
My KTM with 3 less cylinders, more than half the cc's and nearly half the weight is 0.44! So a duke 690 would be comparable performance, with better MpG, better handling, better usability, less insurance, less tax, less chrome etc...
With this logic a 'muscle bike' is kind of pointless.

So to summarise, they have cheap suspension, overweight, and slow. However they sound good and make your pants rumble (I think you can get tablets for that?).
