What if....what if they just made the fence shorter? Shocked

No need - with true 'equity' there are no supporters and everyone is forced to play whether they like it or not.

Apropos the sporting analogy, it occurs to me that the expression "level the playing field" is literal, not "slope the playing field downhill so that the worst side has an equal chance".

Totally agree.

Here's my own tale of woe.

I absolutely detest the the thought of having to do public presentation in any form. I'm quite a confident guy but I have a petrifying irrational fear of such exposure, simple as that. When I tell people about this, I'm always greeted with the same response of 'it isn't that bad', or 'well we all have to do it at some point in our lives', which I think is a load of bollocks and is just a symptom of the 'everyone can be good at everything' mindset that modern (Western?) society is overly preaching.

I don't want to be the king of oration, yet it seems I need to at least show I 'can' do it. But... why?! I'm content with the fact that plenty of people are far better than me, and I'm happy to back down and not even attempt to join that game, which is surely fine - we are a diverse species of strengths and weakness after all. Yet I'm apparently expected to have a go. Why why why?

If you're shit at something, or hell even if you're good at it but simply don't want to, then why should you be obliged to? I swear this is some kind of off-shoot of the 'equality' malarkey we're dealing with here. It's also a reason why shit people end up doing things they're shit at - because the current attitude is that trying is good enough.

Ranty rant Very Happy

I love oration. Not sure why.

I would have loved to have been one of the great dictators of the 20th century...sigh, all the women's rights I could have trampled on.

Nothing more annoying than a male feminist, one of these guys who thinks that by making himself blend in with the bitches he will get all de hole.

On the subject of presentation I always just tapped into the feeling you get AFTER doing a speech, you feel more confident and that you could go up and do it again.

The only time I get nervous presenting, is when I haven't properly prepared and I don't know what I'm talking about.

If I know the subject matter well enough I can just talk on and on, from the top of my head easily.

I'm a feminist, I guess. I always treat women as if they were equal.

No no a feminist is someone who thinks men and women should be equal but as an apology for the oppression women should be given more power and higher wages. But totally equal mind.

So why call yourself a feminist if you believe in treating both genders fairly? Seems a little female-centric to name yourself after only one of the genders...

After all, aren't there supposed to be roughly 200 genders these days?

Such flagarant dismissal of minority groups is disgraceful!

https://c590198.r98.cf2.rackcdn.com/MTM0.jpg

On that area, I was amused on a 'fitness' site where a woman was complaining about some 'sex' description thing.
She considered herself a man.
Her picture showed her wearing typical girl-garb - girly makeup, pink strappy top or something and so on. She still didn't have that Y chronosome which DOES change the sort of advice that should be offered as women ARE different in important aspects as far as fitness goes.

But no, she was terribly put upon by being labelled a woman. I forget her exact reason for moaning.
(Yes, apart from being a woman Rolling Eyes Wink ).
I forget

They shouldn't be standing on boxes to see over the fence in the first place. If they want to watch the game they should pay for a ticket like anyone else!
