Ah, yes, not much use to try out pit bikes if you have to bring your own bike Wink.

£10 for 7 laps doesn't seem great compared to the £20 for 4 hours I paid on Monday Smile. (And while indoor is a bit more slippy/small - at least time of year, also less wet.)

I spoke to Three Sisters yesterday, and pit bikes isn't something they themselves do. They passed me on to NORA, and to NMRRC.

NMRRC say they are still in talks with Three Sisters about pit bikes, but nothing has been settled/agreed yet. I'm waiting on a reply from NORA, as the fella is currently in Italy with the GN Supermoto team.

I've not tried any indoor places, but it seems rather difficult. The fella from NMRRC said Rednal will be holding a practice day/evening once a month, but the date isn't finalised yet.

He also mentioned a track in Preston somewhere that allowed pits, but couldn't provide a name. Other than that, he suggested Stretton...but that's 124mile each way for me.. Bit much me thinks..

For actual racing you've got to expect such distances and more if you want variety and regular meetings.

It was about 135 miles each way I did on Monday.

Be nice for some where closer, but them's the breaks.

(There is an outdoor place a bit closer I need to investigate.)

I fully expect to be raking up the miles when/if I race, don't fancy it when I'm a novice looking for some practice laps or general open pit type thing. There are a few indoor kart places dotted around here though, maybe worth asking them too.

I actually finally rode my SM pit bike in SM trim on a track yesterday - much fun and my wrists coped with it - though may be different on an outdoor track.

Might try and get along to Lydd.
Is there any 'practice' before the event 'vet? Wouldn't mind getting an idea of where the track goes and so on first Smile.

I'd really love to get into this. Is it possible without having much experience on bikes? Only track near me is Three Sisters, which looks pretty decent.

With any racing, I'd always suggest getting some track time first - you'll get much better 'value for money' than paying out for racing.
Ie, last night was a 4 hour 'open pit lane' for £20 and I was improving all the time - if it was a race, I'd have got a lot less time for more money.
You don't NEED experience, but obviously it can help if you do have some - having raced big bikes, done minimoto and so on, while I started off slow, I improved steadily - if I wasn't conversant with the relatively fine throttle control needed on the smooth indoor track I was riding on, I likely wouldn't have progressed so well (I did end up on the floor once - but then others managed a good few times, so maybe I just wasn't trying hard enough Smile ).

Norasport does SM pit bike rounds at Three sisters it seems. However they do do 'proper' supermoto - so on and off road combined.
Unless you go for a one make series like Matchams, most race series will travel around the country.

There's no word on practice before lydd round as far as I know, if there is it will be anounced on there facebook page https://m.facebook.com/NationalMiniBikeRoadRacingChampionship

Did go and play.
I seemed to have kinda stopped speeding up when I should have carried on - at the slippery Swindon track I was getting to the limits of grip at points, but the only time I had a slide here was when I went through a patch of water overtaking someone on the practice day.
So, I can't blame the Sava tyres or that my suspension seems to be massively softer than other's for not getting a better pace on.
Also need to get my hanging off more consistent without thinking about it - though stiffening the suspension may reduce the need a bit.
I was trying to push myself a bit more in the penultimate race, only to find that two major engine bolts had disappeared, just leaving a wobbly engine on the footpeg mounts.

A nice summary I found yesterday:

Yep; is that Alan Lord?
If so (and I've got the right name) - I was loitering while you were changing tyres on Saturday and was seen aimlessly wandering on Sunday. Smile

I did 160 and open (no space left in 140, though mine is stock 140); not worried by onboard as I know I need to go faster so likely just footage when a fast rider buzzes me Smile, but cheers - will keep an eye out for the official video - did get interviewed in the 'grid walk' - but hopefully they'll cut me in editing.
I was in the rather muddy silver leathers, which were noted on by quite a few.

Shame there are no tracks nearby in West Yorkshire that I could have a go on. This looks like a right load of fun.

Nearest track I can find which allows you to ride on it with a bike is in Leicester, which sucks!

Riding.

No excuses now (well, I'll have to think up some others), as got a bike with less bouncy suspension and more ground clearance Smile.

On that - if you're south-ways, welcome to blag a go on one of mine Snorty Thumbs Up.
