OOooo! a deluxe bling bling, chrome clad edition!
Very nice. With useful front end, so glad the dangerous old drum setups are becoming less seen of now. And is that a left foot gear shift I see? Didn't know that was available.
Enjoy the vibes Rogerborg! Thumbs Up

Yes, I've quite fancied one of these for a while but the constant fettling required puts me off a little so let us know how you find it Rogerborg Smile

I think they changed that quite a while ago. Back in the early 2000s if I'm correct.

Goes and stops.

Since about 2004 or so. The selling fellow reckons that they were pressured into it not because of the European market (where we thought it Added Character) but because the Indian market was getting so used to left hand shifts on imported Chinese bikes that it was becoming untenable over there to continue doing it arsey-versey.

Well, I wouldn't be happy if there was nothing needing done to it.

Now, let's see about getting some Scotch participation in the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride.

Cool new old thumper Rog!

I'd have preffered the Diesel engine version if I was being fussy, simply as I like the sound of old cement mixers and fishing boat motors in a perverted way! Wink

And an Internets to you.

It's got the Amur carb with the jets twiddled and float that actually floats, and an exhaustier exhaust. I had a look at the stock pipe that came off of it, and it's mostly pipe and very little hole.

With the open pipe it makes a very nice blat, almost too loud for my delicate sensibilities, and pops and barks caddishly on overrun. Pulls well enough up to 50, purrs along sweetly at 55-60 and will see 70 although that's rather missing the point. Interestingly it was great in some strong sidewinds today - I could feel myself getting blown around, but the bike itself remained largely unfazed.

I was literally laughing out loud as I rode it today, it's just so... spiffing. Dynamically, it reminds me a lot of my old HN125-8, and I found myself weaving around all over the place and giving jaunty hand signals just for the sheer joy of it. In fact, I'd describe it as the bike I really wanted to begin with. Wub

Of course, it did have a Moment where it cut out at lights and the ammeter started wobbling like Salma Hayek on a trampoline, but a good dose of well chosen expletives sorted the situation out.

Id hate to say it, but as hard as it would be I'd have to swap it for Salma Hayek on a trampoline, It's a 19year old Fantasy I've had TBH! Wink

I keep thinking about selling mine, as Mrs NM thinks it's very uncomfortable, it also only does 60mph.

But then when I take it out, I decide I dont want to sell it anymore. It's the perfect bike for pootleing about round the countryside
