Indeed Wink

Given that I have now decided to take bikes round the track to spend my spare money... I thought I'd get one going with Matt and Aff.

This is documented here - https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=292350

All in all, it went really well. Sunny all day, nice and warm. Ideal!

However, I decided I wanted to do another.

First 3 sessions were lovely and dry, little nippy but felt I was far better off in the inters. No one overtook but I managed to get passed some right buggers despite being forced on to the grass once, then clipping the red and white edges in ruts a few times.

It then started to rain after lunch around 2, I was on at 2:20. I thought if the rain goes I'll use the Daytona. It didn't... so I took the SV with the wets I prepared the day before Mr. Green

https://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b545/paddynewman/20140811_101013_zps546b5326.jpg

1st session in the wet I was joined by one guy on a Street Triple who obviously was remarkably cautious and stuck in front of me for the first few laps. After 3 or so I started to up the pace and I would have assumed the tyres are warm by then. He soon was passed a few times, then some other riders popped on track, Tuono 1000, R6 and another black bike, no idea wtf it was Laughing

Ended that session overly impressed with the SV and the tyres, had enough grip to get your knee on the floor happily round Druids so definitely more capable at gripping that standard road ones!

With my newly found confidence I attacked the next session alone... for 1/2 a lap. Then a few people started to join, the R6, Street, Tuono and another smarty on wets.

Stupidly however, I got a little too cocky and decided to take the lines I was taking beforehand in the dry at slightly reduced speeds... this lead to...

No real injuries, gonna be sore for a while but I shall live.

The SV however...

So currently looking to get that repaired ready for track again, see how I go.. Laughing

At least its another thing I can tick off the list!

Sorry to bump, I haven't been on BCF for a while (sold the Varadero, have no bike now ;() and stumbled onto this post.

Paddy. wrote:

Moved onto the ZXR750 I traded the Varadero for, this was an oddball bike, suspension hard enough to vibrate fillings loose, fast enough to blitz 95% of road users and the weight of a camel. You could feel its age, things were not "right" like steering felt off, forks felt rather stiff though having correct oil, the ride was overly painful on my recently fixed broken hand. I'm not even sure what happened to it, my memory is that fuzzy.

That's a shame, I was wondering what what happened to that bike. It was my first >33bhp bike, and it was ridiculously fast. Having never ridden a sports bike, I just assumed the suspension was meant to be that hard!

I bought it off a obese middle aged guy who wheezed just pushing the thing around. I don't think he could fit on it anymore.

Just read again about your big smash in 2008. Makes me feel better about my piddling little cracked vertebrae. Inspiring. Post something new so I can give you more Karma
