Hey all.

After a recent crash thanks to a combination of an oil spill and hopeless old D207s on one of my favorite left handers i decided to fighter my RRV as i really do miss riding what i feel are "proper" bikes.

You can just about see the long dark streak of oil on the road surface, police arrived on scene followed by council who spent an hour cleaning the road surface

https://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/fireyphoenix1989/10474628_10203977838784412_1317956259205397777_n_zpse02dd775.jpg

Damaged engine case and left side plastics

https://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/fireyphoenix1989/10525918_10203978031069219_1155363542913005103_n_zps155a6a61.jpg

The tank has a fist sized dent in it from something on the road

https://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/fireyphoenix1989/10513403_10204018645964566_7295445637932681677_n_zps854ef811.jpg

I decided to start off with some thing basic to get me on my way and got to work sanding.
I discovered it wasnt the bikes first time down on its left hand side...
Prior body filler work dont lie.

https://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/fireyphoenix1989/10532336_10204034531521695_907365290290280605_n_zps87fe4d22.jpg

Anyway i sanded down to bare metal and got to work with getting the tank back to proper shape after a few hours of filling and sanding then painting this is what i had.

https://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/fireyphoenix1989/10552633_10204037098425866_5782966238660557684_n_zps82d56f9b.jpg

Very happy with it tbh got the shape back to looking normal.

Another few hours of sanding and painting and i had this lot ready to fit. Fat bar conversion and braided hoses too. also used a CB900 clutch cable as it was perfect with the higher bars.

https://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/fireyphoenix1989/10449539_10204038049049631_867764682888146633_n_zpsed045b5b.jpg

Next morning got it all fitted and wired up .
and this was my bike as it stood.

https://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/fireyphoenix1989/10527589_10204042114631268_965524782502139297_n_zps2230598a.jpg

https://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/fireyphoenix1989/10527713_10204042713646243_276230234205436400_n_zps55a3b77f.jpg

I am especially happy with the indicators i made, as personally i think they look great.

https://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/fireyphoenix1989/10511172_10204043847274583_6643408902905557223_n_zpsa15dd2b5.jpg

not bad for £120 and 12 hours work.
Problem is its a bit ......meh there is nothing that makes it mine so to speak.
So after a nights drinking about a week after i built the bike as a fighter, i woke up to find i had bought a fiberglass Ducati 748 style seat then got a bit carried away.

It seems my bikes missing its arse... and yes i am building this in the street haha i live in a flat and have no where to work off the road.

https://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/fireyphoenix1989/10470617_10204145606738506_6116220488273546579_n_zpsae10061e.jpg

Got this knocked together
not bad for an afternoons work

https://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/fireyphoenix1989/10533897_10204145831424123_382699669039033817_n_zpsae59de3b.jpg

But i wanted to make it REALLY stand out and started playing with ideas i aint seen before and decided to go for a textured matte black and red scheme. The finish has a rough to the touch texture and its hard to describe, it feels almost like the finish on some tools.
Either way i love it.

Powdercoating over body filler it turns out is a complete nightmare.
In three days i powdercoated and sanded the tank 9 times as the filler kept lifting.
Powdering over fiber glass is not easy either haha its possible tho.
I got there in the end but my gods.....

https://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/fireyphoenix1989/10409419_10204192330506571_6872726110682816057_n_zps8352477a.jpg

Anyway the end results are decent.

https://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/fireyphoenix1989/10593034_10204192328666525_834169012941383718_n_zps44073bf7.jpg

Ignore the slight discoloration in the photo that was while paint was drying after a touch up (MEK mixed with powder makes for a decent touch up paint)

Went to my mates to borrow his rivet gun so i could knock this out

https://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/fireyphoenix1989/10445986_10204192331106586_626358119271593953_n_zps7352a157.jpg

Made subframe mounting plates to get the seat angle perfect and got everything bolted up nice and tight.
Plates are made of 5mm steel bar so should be up to the job.The bikes really coming along at this stage.

https://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/fireyphoenix1989/10448765_10204192332146612_8188298715880772569_n_zps540a1d1b.jpg

Few more hours work and well its pretty much there.
Loads of boring little bits i had to do like modify the loom make new tank mounts wire in lights ect.

But this is the result on my work.

https://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/fireyphoenix1989/10525643_10204199823693896_5948479827920122717_n_zpsb782384f.jpg

LEDs in the under tray aint to everyone's tastes but i freaking love it haha

https://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/fireyphoenix1989/10441530_10204200190503066_1903566413324009205_n_zpse502e94d.jpg

Just one last bit of work and its done for now.

I changed the front wheel for a VFR400 17 inch rim with a dragon supercorsa fitted & chopped down the front mudguard to get the look i was after.

https://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/fireyphoenix1989/10426151_10204205139706793_6269524868482451945_n_zps66640222.jpg

after riding round on that piece of racing foam for a few hours i decided a better seat was in order so i made this... Far more comfortable.

https://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/fireyphoenix1989/10481905_10204221896445701_546420736506632477_n_zps380853be.jpg

When funds allow the wheels are being powder coated bright red (think "snap on" ) and im adding a bellypan then the bike will be complete in my eyes.
May upgrade the shock and the fork internals but i dont think it needs more than that.

Thats it for now guys, thanks for reading.

Definitely not the worst Unfaired Sportsbike Iv ever seen Thumbs Up

Shame about the colour/Finish, Gloss white would take it from a 5/10 to a 7/10

Not overly keen on matt finishes myself, but that's just a matter of personal taste. So it's Thumbs Up from me.

Scrolling down the thread, first thing I thought was that standard tail piece looked a bit bulky now the bike has no fairing - think you've dealt with that nicely!

True essence of a streetfighter in my eyes.

Admire that.

That's quite a big improvement in looks. The only thing that makes it look a bit abnormal is the huge engine. Other than that, well done. Clapping

Paint engine black - it wont stand out as much. You can then tastefully pick up parts of the engine to colour to the bike just to break up the "blackness"

Hell I like it too!

It's a beast and has a big air of fuck you about it that makes me smile! I'm not a fan of matt finishes generally, but it looks good on a hard street bike with attitude like that, and is the sort of look not to be too precious over, or worry about dropping etc.

I'd imagine you can safely leave that parked in the street too, as it has the look of the owner is a big tough bastard you don't want to mess with his shit about it! Laughing

For improvements, Id say Metallic red wheels to match the tank graphics, and a bit more black elsewhere. Nice to see a bare alloy early blade frame, and glad you didn't powder coat it black and ruin the visibility of Honda's lovely welds.

An 1137cc sprayed matt black lump, could be the future icing on the cake mod for that too!

Oh and I'd lose the stubby can and just go straight pipe I think too!

I hate 99% of streetfighters because they look like crashed and cheaply repaired bikes.. but I quite like your effort I must say Thumbs Up

How did you come up with the tail light / indicator. I think that is probably the most impressive part of the built well my opinion.

Not a fan of the eBay front light jobbies people tend to use, prefer a large round headlamp

The LED lights were a complete pain in the arse to make haha its just individually wired LEDS in a parallel circuit with a resistor on each one.
They did look good tho, i made them more out of boredom and wanting to see if i could do it than anything to be honest. https://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/fireyphoenix1989/1958454_10203826715326420_7171032489107665053_n_zpsb25ca0dc.jpg

Matte black aint to everyones taste, but it is to mine and thats all that actually matters Thumbs Up

The cheapo twin spotlight headlight was a temporary measure as i had about £50 to my name when i crashed. That paid for filler paint bar risers bars and materials to make new brake lines.

The light i replaced it with is a road legal Acerbis DHH. Not the best in the world but it will do until i have the funds to spare to get the headlight i really want.

I do want to paint the engine black at some point, possibly with the engine cases powdercoated in the same shade of red as the wheels will be going. Frame will be staying original as i personally love the brushed finish, its one thing i would never change.

It is possible to powdercoat smaller parts at home but you need a massive oven to do the bigger parts. electrostaticmagic make a powdercoating gun that only needs a compressor to run on.
The trick to powder coating fiberglass is to preheat it so the powder will adhere properly.
But i do have the advantage that a good friend of mine owns a powder coating business and lets me do stuff there using his equipment for cost of materials i use.

As for the bigger motor (Guessing you mean blackbird ?) thats something that can wait until the 900 engine bores me, thus far im finding its has plenty of grunt haha.

The exhaust i really want long term is an A16 MotoGP, tiny and look the mutts nuts.

My aim with this bike was simply to make it look good enough for me to enjoy it, i love the way it rides now and im happy with the looks.

Grand total spent on it so far is less than £250 and £147 of that was the front wheel and tyre as they seem to go for silly money just because they fit the early fireblades.

Needs another few hundred more spent on it to get it how i want it.

To do list.
Pilot road 3/4 tyres as i ride all year round and will need decent weather performance soon haha.
Add bellypan
Powdercoat wheels & cases
A16 MotoGP exhaust
Fit a MT03 headlight as i seriously love that design.Just hate they they cost £100

Shot taken at rivi barn about a week before the crashhttps://i381.photobucket.com/albums/oo256/fireyphoenix1989/10441445_10203833573817878_3998896781391925811_n_zps010a00d2.jpg

it was a properly nice bike, but there is no way i could afford to get it back to the condition it was in before, so i just decided to have a little fun with it Twisted Evil .

Nothing to do with me like lol i just used the picture as thats the headlight im gonna be using when funds allow.
Personally im just gonna get new springs and heavier oil in the fireblade forks as they are more than good enough for the road Smile.
