32 inches between the floor under my heel and my bollocks.
Lowering kit availible to drop the seat height by 25mm too looking at my parts catalouge....combine that with some MX boots to raise you up a bit...
It's a lot shorter than the CR and we did manage to get Doovy on that ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

So, now I have 2" cores in my exhaust it flows a lot better. It did feel noticeably more responsive sub 4k, however it still wasn't quite right.
After a bit of research these went in the spares box.

This allowed it to breathe better & the 170 main (+5) got it running reasonably well. Took it out for a run and was well impressed, flat out it was pulling 95-100 on stretches it struggled to touch 90 before. Binning the airbox lid is proven to give the dukes more power, KTM offered a mesh lid as an offical powerpart, however the dyno shows better results with no cover at all. Reccomended jetting is 170-175 main. My 172.5 & 175 jets are on back order & will no doubt be useful when it finally goes on Slipstreams dyno.
Then I found out about "Electronic Power Control"
Cracking little system. You pin it & a computer decides how much throttle you actually get by bleeding air into the diaphragm cap on the top of the carb, causing the slide to drop.

You need the following parts to remove it from a US version which diddn't have the system;
K58031005000 - CLAMP YDNAC 10128 12MM £0.40+VAT
K57931001010 - PLUG CAP FOR EPC CONNECTION £0.45+VAT
Pop fuel tank off, remove this hose on the very top of the carburettor & fit the blanking plug. Ought to be fairly simples.

Homemade plugs have also been used in the past (pictured below), but a proper KTM one for around £1? C'mon - you know it makes sense

Pull this lot off;

Pull the filter off the bottom of the T piece & attach this to the other hose coming from the airbox side of the carb (the hose that would attach to the white T piece. Filter shown below on the left.
The only thing left after that is to hide the plug up out of the way under the tank, plug shown on the right.

It now feels a completely different bike sub 4k, throttle response is much better. I still need to drill the slide, chop the spring, swap the pilot jet over & then reset the idle mix screw but it's progress for sure!
The exhaust mod cost a bottle of wine, and £10 for tubing on eBay, the airbox mod/rejet cost £4 and removal of EPC was free. Not bad for a £20 spend at all
Have also ordered the stuff to blank the emissions crap off on the cylinder - KTM actually make the blanking plugs & a r/h exhaust stub without the bracketry on it...only cost a tenner. Will see if this helps it. ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

Running downgeared however will just up the revs in the long run, having geared for 105 but only doing 90 is a little safer on the motor than geared for 90 and doing 80.
See TTR
Do some 2nd and 3rd gear clutch ups, get comfy with it and then we can have wheelie races |

I've basicly sacrificed 5-10mph top speed & gained a much more responsive bike through 3rd & 4th gear.
1st was too close for tight roundabouts, and 2nd was too long so you either jerked it in first or chugged the motor in 2nd and it got annoying! With the downgear 2nd is then perfect for all that round town stuff & filtering.
Thing is, the bike gets unstable and gets a headshaker on at about 80-85mph, so I tend to blast up to about that on the dual carridgeways then roll off to around 70ish anyway as its a bit sketch taking my hand off the bars when you know that the slightest little bump is going to set it off. It revs about 500rpm higher than it previously did at normal cruising speeds so realy isnt too bad to live with. I did get it to touch just over a ton on a downhill stretch, and it was sat about 1250rpm-1500rpm off the redline which is plenty safe margin I reckon.
I think KTM massively over-geared it from the factory - the sprocket/swingarm clearance is so so tiny on a standard 17t that pattern sprockets don't even fit on the bike KTM's genuine part has a slightly shorter tooth which clears it by 1-1.5mm
Take it out & lemme know what you reckon, it's a lot nicer round town & twisty backlanes which is really where it's best suited anyway ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

In all honesty, I'm not keen taking a single past 70ish anyway, high revs are not my friend in that respect but yeah I'll give it a whirl |
