It's been announced that 2015 MotoGP will be at Donington Park. I think this is great news and we will be going for the full 4 days with Day of Champions to show our support for this great circuit.

Very Happy

Much better atmosphere at Donington then Silverstone but the access in and out is terrible.
Can't see there being a British GP in a few years time as Silverstone seem pretty pissed off about being dropped and that whole circuit of Wales thing has got financial disaster written all over it.

Well thank F for that.

It'll be rammed to the rafters. Cool ...and maybe offset the $$$$$$'s that Donnington have to pay Dorna to host it.

Rossi loves Donny too. Smile

Attendance must be a lot lower though for BSB.
Do you still have to go along all those tiny roads before you get to the motorway? I can't really see how they can make it much better without direct access to a main A road or motorway.

I remember how bad it used to be getting out of Snetterton turning right across the A11 before they changed all the access roads.

True. The last ones I have been to they make the roads around the circuit one way so the single lane roads become double. It can take longer in distance to where you want to go but a lot quicker in time. If that makes sense

I went to the last Moto GP at Doni in 2009, this was the procedure then. It still took an hour or so to get out. Silverstone has much better links, but the circuit is dull. What about Brands GP? Razz

Not today it wasn't and we left VERY late...

EDIT: they've got a shitload of work to do to the infield before next year. The infield is a mess.

I agree mate I was at BSB yesterday luckily on the bike and that was bad enough. I wouldn't like to have been leaving in a car.

Agreed. Me and the missus were on the bike and it was awful getting out and we didn't leave until almost half six. The car traffic was horrendous, so being on two wheels and being able to filter etc was a blessing, but it was hard fucking work just with the volume of traffic still leaving. If I'd have thought on we would turned right out of the exit from Redgate and caught the A50. Wouldn't have saved much time but would've got rid of a lot of the stress associated with so much congestion.

Some of the driving standards we encountered on the ride back up north on the M1 was nothing short of laughable too. Don't they realise that tailgating and brake dabbing causes so many problems? Fuckwits.

Looks like there'll be no British round of MotoGP this year!

Donnigton and Circuit of Wales have had a tiff and Donny won't be taking up the slack.

Just saw this on crash.net - https://www.crash.net/motogp/news/214544/1/donington-breaks-off-british-motogp-deal.html

That's a shame, I was looking forward to Donington this year as I've never been!

Not sure if I want to go to Silverstone for the third year in a row.

Suggests to me that CoW undercut Silverstone by an amount they deemed to be unsustainable. Now Dorna is left without a GP in the UK, with Silverstone the only venue capable of holding one.

I guess they were right.

So, the basics are:

Taff say "Jones the builder haven't got a shovel yet"
Donny say "We'll lend you ours, just to piss off Silverstone, you bring the bottles"
Taff then realise they haven't got a snowballs chance in Hell of building anything because they "aven't cleared the sheep away from the Common, isn't it?" yet - much less in time for a 2016 round.
    Donny say "Where's the bottles"
Taff look at their welly boots, and wring their hands a bit
    ...
    Silverstone profit

Yes?

No, Taffy is refusing to stump up the bottles or bring a marquee, to help upgrade the facilities at Donny!

Will be pretty fed up if they can't find somewhere to host this - it's one of the highlights of the calendar for us.

Also, massively happy its being moved to Wales - it's a right trek out of the way for everyone who doesn't live in there/

Would be cheaper / quicker / more fun to use the Eurotunnel and go and see one of the 'Euro' circuits.

Google maps says that by road it will take 6 hours without traffic to get to the circuit of Wales and 7.5 to le Mans for me. Plus whatever delays you encounter at the tracks themselves. Either way I doubt I'd travel that far to either just to watch MotoGP. If I was I'd rather fly out to one of the Spanish or Italian rounds and have a mini holiday.

"We continue to advance our development activity on the Circuit of Wales and are focused on the upcoming public inquiry into the deregistration of the common land. We expect construction to commence once this inquiry has concluded."

So they will never be buidling CoW then - excellent.

Silverstone is a nice ride for me - that's the next two years sorted.

I know it’ll never happen but I’d pay a lot of money to see a GP at Brands Hatch. I’d absolutely love to see Rossi and co around there, or I’d take Spa in Belgium.

Regarding Circuit of Wales, that’s (selfishly) fine for me and I'd imagine most people who live in England. It's had disaster written on it from the start.

I think it is a fucking joke CoW can get the rights to run a GP without not only a track but even fucking planning permission to build one!

CoW getting the deal for 5 years before it was built was very, very odd. I live in Wales and have had the joy of working for WG, no one in Wales seems to have much experience of putting big projects together.

Knew it wouldn't happen soon but it's still an arse. Would have been a 2 hour ride instead of 6 Smile And some great routes for the Riders for Health ride-in on the Thursday
