You will not enjoy it as much as with a bike capable of doing at least 120mph. You may have enough corner speed but people will be lapping you. Also everybody will be just cutting in front of you on your corner approaches.

Why do I have a picture of a guy on a Harley Sportster at said trackday in my mind, am I imagining that?

If there was a Harley (and it's not some acid flashback) then why you worried Thumbs Up Or was he really pissing people off?

XT660 guy was keeping a decent pace in corners.

Novices will be novices, its fine to jump in that group at Brands.

People will only cut you up if you take a massively wide line and cut in stupidly late... then you'd likely be at fault Laughing But no, I was told to build up slowly and thats what I did, I haven't died yet Smile

FWIW I rarely went over a ton on the SV, only ever down the straight would I have seen 110ish. I'd happily use the duke around Brands.

Oh, and you may want some cans Laughing

Pretty much maxed the bike out at Snetterton, give or take 10mph.

That track is more or less defined by two massive straight separated by a few corners though.

I did get cut up by thous and stuff on the straight, people passing within a foot of me like I was stood still.

The Daytona was "pushing it" but I suspect they just didn't like me.

Had heard about Lydden, however having never been there it's pretty hard to judge how long straights are & stuff - would love to hear from anyone that's done it on a supermoto Confused

The straights aren't that long, the track is basically 'L' shaped and the entire lap is only a mile, although one straight is very uphill, the parallel one is very down!

First off, Gazdaman on here did his first trackday on an MZ250. At Snetterton.

Not a fancy race one, but a stock road one. Also, I've had more rounded tyres on my van. He still did ok.

If your bike handles ok, you won't be holding people up, because there's plenty of space to pass you on the straights, which is much easier than passing a corner.

If you are holding a sports bike up, it's because they're too slow and you keep getting past them braking/cornering/accelerating, not because you're too slow.

Saying all that, Lydden is a good choice. Brands Indy isn't too bad as it goes either - you'll top out on the long start-finish section, but the rest should be fine.

What sort of cost are we looking at?

normal ish sessions are £120, but currently some October one for £80.

Factor £20-£40 for fuel depending on how you ride, I've used probably £20 in the SV and similar on Daytona in the same day.

With your road riding, go inters Thumbs Up

As others have said Lydden Hill is the best track for a slow bike.
