I made a bike stand months ago but too lightweight for 600's. It was made from scrap 25mm x 1.2 square tube. It gets plenty of use with cbr250 and improved my MIG weld skills, so was not time wasted. Now I need something a bit stronger to lift the DL650, which weights like 300kg
Ordered some 42mm x 3mm wall round tube. Today I cut it up and notched the ends using a holesaw.

I like the idea of the legs - atleast one, being removable, which depends somewhat on finding some good fitting tube the 42mm OD can slide over = 36mm OD.
Also got some M20 threaded rod and nuts - expensive stuff, unless you happen to find it on clearance Should be better than the M12 used before and require less support - DL650 wont fit in first stand).
Cobalt holesaws also on clearance though I did manage to drop an arbour down the drain
Possibly start welding it up next weekend. |
