Abit of an update, been on with the front end mainly, frames are back from the powdercoaters and on the bench!

https://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f215/stesewell/20150115_163657_zpsqlu3jdxf.jpg

https://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f215/stesewell/20150117_170708_zps9pxwbmt5.jpg

Starting to build up the front end now.

https://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f215/stesewell/20150117_181333_zpsltbgcf8g.jpg

Tank arrived (ebay steal) its the same as my other one (5gallon long range)

https://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f215/stesewell/20150121_175606_zpsfodw3qv1.jpg

https://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f215/stesewell/20150121_175801_zpsfubwlcf1.jpg

Unfortunately, when away for powdercoating they ruined my swinging arm bushes, so they had to be replaced, not ideal doing it after its been coated for obvious reasons, but these things are sent to try us I suppose!

so.. the hacksaw came out to remove the outer race of the bearing.

https://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f215/stesewell/20150122_170942_zpseydmqs2r.jpg

First one had to be cut in a few places (right) to remove it, but then i used a spacer to drive the old one out after soaking it heavily in penetrating fluid.

https://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f215/stesewell/1421949323211_zpsttz1imfw.jpg

This is what they are supposed to look like.

https://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f215/stesewell/1421950330940_zpsf8yloawm.jpg

They pressed in fairly easily, not too easy, as they are an interference fit.

IMO someone really needs to get their bright green mean machine out and start using it, before it gets completely hidden by stuff in that very cool garage!

Of course Smile the center piece knocked out through its own washers, lucky really as that was the only thing that enabled me to get a hacksaw blade in to cut them out.

Will be doing some more zinc plating today and getting the back end ready to accept the wheels (full rolling chassis first)

I'm still riding on swing arm Metalastics that the factory fitted in 1956. So far as I know, anyway.

They're quite robust.

I cant see anything wrong with them, when I first did my own triton I put Manx bronze bushes in it, probably abit overkill, but never mind!

Just a little update, finally got my spokes back from CWC so I can now start building wheels!

https://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f215/stesewell/1422981489044_zps0bn3bk0h.jpg

Rims had to be polished of course! abit of a pain doing these, but I had my mrs to help me out.

Tyre on, just the brake to rub down and polish now (sigh)

More to come, hopefully be a rolling chassis soon!

Sorry for not going to in-depth.. id probably only bore people, and I prefer to spend most of my time building!

That's very pretty indeed! id love to enter into some classic racing, but all my bikes are too "showy" for that sort of thing.. ive been toying with the idea of building a racer for some time.. would probably be a lot cheaper than building shiney roadbikes!

Well, talking of shiney bits, heres some that came yesterday, sadly the torque arms are going to need some modification as they don't align with the brake plate, but everything else looks good!

One box of shiney for the magpies.

https://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f215/stesewell/20150303_202654_resized_zpsirk8r79j.jpg

all made from Stainless, clock mounts in stainless are especially important as alloy ones crack!

Finally got the rear wheel finished, tyre on, and brake plate just about finished, needs cam ect.

https://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f215/stesewell/20150305_181356_resized_zpslyjytcet.jpg

More pictures to come, will hopefully be looking more bike shaped soon!

If that's a Norton tin backplate, they weren't known for rigidity.

I wouldn't have though stainless would be less likely to crack than ally? Isn't stainless more brittle?

Stainless exhausts certainly crack. Those brackets look easily strong enough to hold a clock.

It's not the end of the World if they do crack.

I had alloy ones on my first triton and they started to crack at the bend due to them being so thin.. these stainless ones are made by Triton Unique to work around that very issue, they are very thick indeed, ive had them on my bike for about 2k miles with no issue.
