This one is going to be shiny. I'm sick of having scruffy bikes. I think it will be derestricted, if not already done, then maybe some slight tuning, but nothing major. I want mine to end up as a Sunday polisher.

Or leave it scruffy and try to get my hands on an SX250 engine! Twisted Evil

No, Sunday polisher.

Trouble is even with a sunday polisher you will get cravings for lots of un-necessary and often expensive bling/tat/vital upgrade's, I'm sitting on my hands saying 'I do not want a stainless steel optimised expansion chamber, 200cc cylinder, or an empty box with a postage label written to Stan Stephens!' Laughing

How are you getting on with this?

Just wondering as that black and green mito I linked to a while back.... a deal has been struck, £400 later I have a 2000 year mito coming home to try to squeeze into that gap in the garage, or possibly join the GPZ in the garden. Thumbs Up

Nice one! Pics and updates very much required! Very Happy

I've got really behind with my own projects due to having a bit of a rough start to the year and now being snowed under with work!

Have only in the past week started back on with the RS1, will be glad now to just have any bike to use over summer Embarassed

As for the Mito, not really done anything to the bike but have been really lucky with some bulk buying of used spares and selling any that aren't needed. Bike now stands me around £100 less than I paid for it and I have everything I need for it plus a few spares Very Happy Thumbs Up

When I get it, I'll start up a rebuild thread. I love doing that, because I often use the threads as a work diary, to see what I've done and how long it's taking to do things. Laughing

I'm the same, I'm probably not going to have a bike this summer, unless I go out and just buy a bike that needs no work just to ride around on this summer. My GPZ isn't finished yet, despite having it sat in the garden for about 18 months. The TTR has knackered her gearbox, somehow. I did an enduro track day on the 25th of April, the chain snapped and punched a hole in the crankcase on my CRM 250, I haven't had a chance to look yet. THe reason for that is that on the 26th of April, I was on my way to marshal at Daventry motocross track when I rolled my Micra:

https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=302537

So, I need to wait to heal before I can pick this bike up and before I can start to look at the other bikes. Thumbs Down

Only just seen this! Hope your ok Adam and you get yourself back together soon anyway mate!

Didn't realise most of your fleet is out of action for a while now too! Sorry to hear about the CRM crankcase smash, that sounds a right pain and expensive to repair.

I'm not going to ask about how the rolled Micra came about, but as long as people were ok, then think of it as having done it's job in a way.

Thanks, I'm made of rubber mostly, being 20 and that! Laughing Broke my left shin, right foot, chipped my right ankle, cracked my pelvis in two places, broke four ribs on the right, punctured my left lung, lacerated my liver, cracked my skull open and got plastic surgery done on my face to glue it back together, I can now no longer move the left side of my face. And the steering wheel cracked my two front teeth and moved my bottom teeth in.

The CRM shouldn't be too hard, I have a mate that can TIG weld, a crate of booze should sort that out, if it's repairable. I just don't really want to tear into the gearbox on the TTR, I suspect either the post that the gear lever return spring sits on has snapped off, again TIG welder mate could sort that, or the gear selector fork has bent or snapped. I think it's the former because you can still select gears if you fiddle about a bit with the lever.

Did a proper job on the micra, no one can believe someone could crawl out of that.

Not too much of an update on this as I'm yet to make a proper start on it while I'm still fiddling with / breaking the RS1 but have had a pretty steady stream of parts incoming recently.

Picked up these infill panels for the dash.

https://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a75/RS1Rebuild/DPP1750_zpskim8jxpa.jpg

I want to experiment with making some carbon fibre panels so with these being small and a nice simple shape, they'll be my first victims.

Always on the look out for decent panels and recently picked this lot up for £80 delivered

https://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a75/RS1Rebuild/DPP1748_zpsxqlbuqtk.jpg

They're not anywhere near as good as what they were described as / how they look and they've had a few questionable repairs but they are generally solid and were the right money so not complaining.

I now have quite a collection of Mito plastics though Laughing

I have to admit, I am waiting for you to do your Mito before I start mine. That way, I can see what you do and just copy. Laughing

Either that or it's getting street-fightered.

My mate has just offered me a Stomp T4 and an RS125, he crashed it into a car after just completely restoring it with no expense spared. Laughing He wants a decent price for the both. Thinking

Yeah copy mine.... I bet we will own the only 2 Mitos in full Paisley vinyl wrap Laughing

Seriously though, DO NOT streetfighter Cat C the Mito! I'm pretty sure it is an actual criminal offence!

What are you thinking is a decent price for the Stomp and RS125? Obviously you must not buy them (especially as I've not even seen anything happening with the MonsTer build yet)... I'd be tempted to put a bid in though Thinking ... could you not just swap him a bike or two from your current stock? Very Happy

As it happens, I've very innocently and accidentally ended up putting a provisional bid on a little Aprilia project myself today Embarassed
Just need to talk my sister into letting me store it at her house until I'm ready for it or it's not happening though Neutral

Yeah, they are too gorgeous to write off like that. Laughing

The Aprilia can get fightered though, they look good like that, I think, if done well. The offer is £800 for the pair, although he ummed and arred at £700, I reckon seven and a bacon sandwich will sway him, the RS doesn't run, but that's because the ignition wires have been cut, the engine went to Scottie-land for complete rebuild, and the front brake line is cut, which is just an excuse for a braided line! Twisted Evil

The Stomp was crashed, into another rider at a pay and play day and the front brake levers snapped and some of the front plastics smashed, but that'd be fine, I was going to road register the T4 then flog it after a few months ragging around. I believe it's based on the CRF 230. Thumbs Up

He's only interested in my CRM, which he is not having. The reason is I crashed my pit bike, or else that would be gone by now. I replaced the head bearings, bought a universal silencer baffle from China, did some minor modding, just made a hole bigger, and it bolted straight up. The issue is, I took it for a test ride, round the block, ready to book for an MOT, I'd left some fork bolts loose. Rolling Eyes Brick Wall

I went down a road, noticed how much better it was running with a baffle, pulled the front wheel up in second, and watche the forks slide out the top yoke. Sick The front wheel went down, folded under the engine and I went head over heels down the road, I was wearing only wearing a t shirt and jeans, road rash all up my left shoulder, left arm, left hip, left knee at least I know how to roll with a crash. Cool

The yokes are bent, the subframe is twisted, and I think I've cracked the headstock. Still not looked because I'm so annoyed with myself. Who would have thought replacing some £8 bearings would write the bike off? Laughing

Since the blow to the head, I'm terrible for remembering things, I have to keep making notes. I'm not sure any more when I do jobs at work if I've done everything either, it's really bad and disappointing.

FFS man! Shocked

Don't know what to say! Or whether to laugh or cry for you?! Confused

One things for sure though... I need to stop posting in this thread! Some crazy quantum space stuff is obviously going on that is making you have a nasty spill before I post. Laughing

Well done for not potato, could've been worse etc.... but just.... be fuckin careful!

Don't beat yourself up over the loose bolts, we all make errors! I've actually made the exact same mistake on one of my crossers, luckily though, I found out when pumping the forks to reverse out the gate Embarassed

As for the Stomp and RS, do you have to take them both? Personally I wouldn't really be interested in the Stomp and would be more tempted to just make a fair bid on the RS. Maybe then do a quick turn around on it and compensate for the losses with the pit bike?

Forgot to mention my other recent purchase! The exhaust!

Probably the bit I'm most proud of... but will likely be underwhelming to most Laughing

So, not a fancy shiny Jollymoto or similar

but this

Do not say how much you paid for that. It will make my eyes water, either with pain or amazement, depending on price... Laughing

With regards to the bikes, I don't have to take both, but why not? I'm actually more interested in the Stomp, I miss having an aircooled four stroke 250 in the stable. Laughing The RS is the best looking shape, the bubbly shape, he just restored it and it was looking like this one.

https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5PjIHgbZdEY/UWWLlj-KNfI/AAAAAAAABM4/CipLg5ZcyLE/s1600/Aprilia+RS125+MotoGP.jpg

But now the nose cone is all smashed to bits, all the lower fairing is intact so would be just right for belly-panning. I was thinking a big square headlight, like the sort on my GPZ, in fact, the one off my old GPZ is up for grabs. Thinking

I had a look, the frame isn't cracked, thank God, so it's new yokes and then a quick straightening of the subframe, doesn't need to be perfect, it's a pit bike, just so it's not pointing up and to the right. The MOTted and gone. Or so the parents think, what it actually means is I have a hooning toy, and I can store it in my bedroom or somewhere. Laughing

It's lovely smooth Hydraulically formed Spannie, whats not to love? Laughing

I need info on the sexy silencer though! Is it just a Kevlar sleeve over the alloy can, and is the silencer body 300mm or longer in length?

I like my satin black Big one silencer, but if it does not prove to suit my plans, then I'm thinking aftermarket Mito silencer FTW, as I no longer like Oval silencers on 2stroke off roaders, it's just so 90's! Laughing

Paid £85 delivered for the complete system but I would have been willing to pay more to be honest.

They are reputed to be the best system for the stock motor and that's what mine will be for the time being. If / when I build a silly engine for it then I'll look to changing the spannie and will either sell this one on or hang onto it for when I do a Mito resto' build.

The silencer body is around 34cm long and is made from the kevlar weave, there is no alloy tube. There were a couple of tidy ones on the bay last time I looked Wink

I've just got my old battered one out to start hacking it up Twisted Evil

Nice detailed silencer pics and showing the full insides in close detail too! Laughing

I'm surprised that the OEM silencer is a straight through baffle, many std two stoke silencers are not, like the KMX's for example.

I need to know the baffle ID to know if it would suit though.

I think a late Mito part with the alloy bodied can would be best though, especially it was powder coated satin black too. Smile

Laughing

Is the nose completely beyond repair? Could you not just pick a used one up? I do prefer to see that kind of bike in its original clothing.
Either way, I don't think you can go too far wrong if you bag both bikes for £700

Glad the damage report isn't too bad for the pit bike Thumbs Up
Now just get it gone! before you break it again Very Happy

Smile

I'd agree it's a little unusual to be a straight through for OEM. That said, the RS1 is straight through... but it's straight through at an ID of about 10mm or so Laughing

ID of the Mito one is 28mm according to my measuringments (which are rarely accurate).

The alloy ones can be picked up for cheap but wouldn't know if the dimensions are the same, I'd expect they probably are though?
