When I took my RVF for MOT late last year I saw one of the bikes on a ramp (my 400 senses were tingling!) After speaking to the garage owner about it he showed me the other bike. Long story short last Friday he turned up at mine with a Luton van filled with bits.

The road bike.

There's an absolute fucktonne of spares, 2 frames, 3 sets of wheels, 4 engines with more to come, bodywork, electrics, another Ram air box etc

Some of the spare engines have had work done, this one has 0.5mm oversize pistons and a lightened and balanced crank/rod set
https://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb73/sam_billing_91/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-01/20150107_124346.jpg

This one is allegedly running a worked bottom end, 1mm o/s pistons and a ported and polished head, as I can't find my x-ray specs I can't prove the internal work, but it's certainly had headwork.
https://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb73/sam_billing_91/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-01/20150107_124520.jpg

Race bike is running MCT worked forks, Öhlins shock, Sprint steering damper, ram air, small fuel cell, BEET exhaust with MHP can and Promach rearsets plus engine work.

:O

but lets wait to see what decent race parts are there before passing judgement.

BTW, I might take a decent running engine off your hands.

It needs to be a titanium engine with gold pistons otherwise I'm still astounded at the price, that is EASILY 2 J model ZX6Rs with enough spares to open a breakers yard.

There's the best part of 3 and a half bikes there, 2 complete, one in bits plus a frame engine and loom to start a 4th with spares left over.

The black one is definitely pretty highly specced, the engine hasn't long had a refresh, its running a Brembo 19x20 mc on later Tokico 4 pots, kit wiring loom, ram air box, SP cams.

There's loads of spares aswell all sorts of pretty expensive bits I can sell, plus if I get the road bike finished and through an MOT I reckon I can make £1000-1200 back in one hit Thumbs Up

For me I'd get the road going one sorted, and sell it on. Keep the race one with the spare engines and build up a 2nd bike with wets. You'd have 2 race bikes then, and if you sold the road one they'd owe you 2 and a half grand plus whatever you put in to get them going.

2 race 400, especially the kawasakis are worth the money they'll owe you. I'd get the black one on the dyno and not take it all apart. Wouldn't be surprised if that was 80hp + if it's had the work you say. Easiest way to tell what's been done is just to get it on the dyno.

Cheers mate Thumbs Up got to find time for it all! Just started tearing my other RVF down for spares and am working my ass off elsewhere.

Going to focus on the road bike first, it needs indicators and an exhaust strap for the MOT and for tastes sake a clear screen as purple is just stupid! That lot should run me under £50-75 all in and will get the MOT done so I can put it up at the start of spring when people will be looking for bikes again.

Beyond sorting through the boxes a bit I haven't progressed much with these.

I did however find in a box a brand new Öhlins steering damper and some alloy Ses bars which will make their way onto the RVF. Couple of odd bits have been sols aswell, already made nearly £200 back.

Spent some of the money from selling bits to buy others. Got a shock, tank, subframe and carbs coming. These should be the few bits I need to put together a complete bike. Obviously there's bound to be odds and ends I'm missing or that need replacing, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

First job is going to be getting a rolling chassis together, I'll probably build it with the wets on initially and then when I can afford to put some nice supercorsas on or something.

Yeah, been keeping my eye on them mate Smile got a nice little surprise lined up for one of the bikes Razz

Got the first lot of bits yesterday, shock is due tomorrow. Hoping to get a chance to empty the boxes out and get a rolling chassis built up soon, I have all the bits to get the front end together, just need to dig out a rear axle, cush drive rubbers and shock bolts to get the rear end sorted.

Parts are here, hopefully tomorrow will bring good news, everything seems to be in good condition and am very pleased condidering the prices I paid.

Shock (£15) tank (£20) front cover with airtubes (£12) subframe (£15) and a set of carbs in GWO (£40) to get me started. I need to search through all of my boxes and get an idea of which bolts I have or need, at which point I'll start ordering what I need. First on my list is get the shock in and the front end built as I know I have the bits for that. Pictures when I get a chance

Started on it yesterday before I went to bed after nightshift, gave the frame a wipe down and put aside most of the bits for the front end ready to put it together later on. Will make sure pictures follow today Thumbs Up

Ok, so a day later than planned. Obviously somebody else wasnt careful storing parts, I have 3 front axle and spacer sets but no rears. I put the front end together, minus bars. Decided to go with the GSXR1000 6 pots, purely because they were the most complete set in the box, and they'll be regularly cleaned they ought to remain seizure free.

disagree strongly

yours must have needed work, had these on my zxr750 with radial master and they were savagely good, good enough to happily outbreak almost everything except lightweights on the track.... Certainly better than the gsxr 4 pots that also fit.

General consensus from the zxr400 owners club is:-
4pot 99 Blade Nissins are head and shoulders above GSXR1000 6pots.

Easier to bleed, greater feel, better braking.

I thought you meant the 4 pot gsxr ones Laughing ok the 4 pot nissins are indeed brilliant, their the same as the ones on my sp1 I think. Still the gsxr 6 pots aren't anywhere near as bad as you implied and they're certainly better than the rubbish Kawasaki put on as standard Wink

Shame I got offered silly money for the SP1 calipers that came on my other RVF before I knew they would fit. Considering the GSXR ones were there already and so have cost £0 they'll do for now, although ugrading in the future isn't out of the question.

Bike is now a rolling chassis, I couldn't find a nut for the lower shock bolt so will be ordering one from Cradleys very soon. As a very very temporary solution to stop it dropping out while I wheel it around I've put a cable tie on. As stated I know this isn't the proper fix, but is better than the bolt rattling out and the suspension collapsing on me, and will be sorted before the engine goes anywhere near it.
