Had a few new experiences today:
First time riding a twin
First time riding an old bike
First time having to manually turn the lights on and realise when i get screamed at by another driver
I got my 1980 GS250t and it runs fairly well. Needs lots of work as it's 34 years old so it's a good little project
This will no doubt be the first of many queries I come here with:
Every time I stop it leaves a couple of drops of oil. Is it normal for the engine to leak a little bit of oil and if not what should I do to go about fixing it? New gasket? Spray on some sealant?

You need to clean all that oil off and see exactly where it's coming from.
As Vincent says, it kind of looks like there is oil leaking round the gearbox shaft seal but it also looks like there is a fair bit of oil floating about round one of the crankcase cover bolts.
Oil leaks are odd though, the oil creeps and tracks all over the place. Where it's dripping is seldom where it's coming from. There may also be more than one. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |
