Everything is in place for next Saturday when i should be collecting this:

https://pictures2.autotrader.co.uk/imgser-uk/servlet/media?id=21d39c879ba562311e0680a89c0e86f2&width=440&height=330

(Photo from dealer website)

For those that cant tell, its the K6 1000 GSXR.

Finance (mostly just so i can improve my rating) is aprooved, signed and documents sent back.

Insurance has been notified, changed the policy from the now sold VTR from TPFT to fully comp with 5 months remaining for an extra £300. Would have worked out about the same as a new policy but as i currently have 0 NCB the quotes i have done drop considerably once i have acchived a year. (£680 fully comp with 0 NCB and £1k excess drops to £250 fully comp with £500 excess with 1 year NCB!).

Shoppings list of bits so far includes tail tidy, shorty leavers and a new exhaust...

Little bit excited...

It's going to be a long week indeed. Looks great minus that crazy exhaust. But yeah, your shopping list will definitely sort out the negatives. This time next Saturday you'll be more than a little bit excited.

Nice one Adam! Thumbs Up

Was it about 10 years ago both of us bought the same bikes at around about the same time. A decade later, we buy cracking superbikes at around about the same time too!

Shame you didn't maintain your NCBs, else your insurance would be silly low Karma Thumbs Up

Unsure on what exhaust as yet. Im happy to spend around £200 new or used on one. Ive seen a couple on ebay but im not 100 percent as yet;

250mm Pipewerx carbox GP3 £190 on the website doesnt seem too bad, but we shall see...
https://www.pipewerx.com/pipewerx/sites/default/files/imagecache/218/CarbonGP3.jpg

It will be 10 years in October that i passed my test and bought that ZXR! Shame ive had a few years off recently and havnt been able to maintain my NCB, hopefully this one is here to stay a while and i can get some long trips under my belt in the summer!

Very nice R1 though Tot! The dealer had a blue R1 on a 08 plate, its was a grand more though and had nearly 30k miles.

The GSXR fits me really well though, 6 more sleeps...

Sitting here all impatient waiting for the woman to hurry up and get ready so I can go and pick it up!

Been up since 6 Laughing

only my tail tidy and smaller numberplate have arrived thus far. Levers are on order (ddidn't get shorty ones in the end). Bought some new leathers so the exhaust had to wait a little bit...

Yeah,

It's annoying when your mods all arrive, with nothing to put them on to! R&Gs, HIDs, Stompgrips, DB Screen & Levers and still no bike!

Imagine how much more frustrating it is to have parts AND bike ready in the same garage but being separated from both by 3500 miles for 3 months!!! Sad

Or parts + bike in garage, but still in a cast for another 3 weeks! At least distance, you have an excuse not to ride it. Being physically no less than 3 metres apart from my bike and knowing I can't ride it will be a bummer

Like I said, the only real choice for 1000cc sports. Nothing compares Smile

Good choice, unsure on exhaust options but I liked the not too abusive but nice burble tri oval yoshi

Eventually went and picked her up. I've never ridden something so damn good!

It was a gentle ride home in the cold but the sun was shining and the road was drying in places. Opened her up a few times and each time I looked down I couldn't believe how quick it got to...erm 60...

Really happy and pleased with the dealer, nice guys who certainly wasn't out to rip me off. They mot'ed her, serviced and stamped in the book, replaced the bar ends as one was missing, put half a tank of fuel in and took her to a suzuki garage (bought from a bmw garage) and got her remapped for the standard exhaust again.

tail tidy has been fitted but was dark by then. The noise from the exhaust is actually pretty good when riding so next on the list is to get the wheels re painted as the job was done poorly and let's the bike down close up.

She also came with a meta357v2 alarm which is nice if it does anything with my insurance...

Just the one picture for now...

Looks a fine example Thumbs Up need to get a ride of a K5/6 to see how they compare to the K1 I rode which was by no means a disappointment.

Got the same anxious wait myself till this Friday Mr. Green

Sounds like a hint... Laughing

She's pretty clean. Few stone chips and a slight boot mark. The wheels do really need re doing though, looks like someone painted them with a brush.

how much would one expect to pay for powder coating both wheels with a ride in ride out service? I don't have a front stand, which I should probably invest in.

Place down here, £100 for 2 wheels in a normal colour, but you'll be wanting something rather tasty, pink and green would work.

Laughing

Bear in mind new bearings required etc.

New update:

I suffered a rear tyre puncture about 3 weeks ago now. After pretty much every bike/tyre shop in the county said they wouldnt repair my tyre, and one saying he would until he said the hole was too big to plug.

So, as i had one wheel off i thought i might as well take the other off and get them both painted.

Chains Slack:
https://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh163/adam673673/Mobile%20Uploads/20150610_183339_zpsughrsejv.jpg

Before:
https://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh163/adam673673/Mobile%20Uploads/20150613_125141_zpsmxkplcin.jpg

Ordered a new 2CT rear tyre from ebay for around £120 delivered. It didnt turn up as ParcelForce lost it apparantly. Easily sorted and the second one came.

Had to buy a new front headstock stand from eGay. £30.

Took loose wheels down to garage who stripped them then ran them over to the painter. Guy charges £30 a wheel, which was quite a bargain.

Whilst they were getting sorted i thought id see what the carbon wrap was like on a few of the smaller items. Turns out it CAN look good, but takes hours and hours of patience. I have done the tank infills and front/rear hugger. Not all that pleased with the front mudguard and it was a complete nightmare to do with all the curves and edges. I might just buy the real thing but its staying as it is for now.

After:
https://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh163/adam673673/Mobile%20Uploads/20150613_214613_zpsz0cegdci.jpg

Whilst ive been away this week the woman picked the freshly coated wheels up from sprayer and took them to the garage for new bearings and fitting the tyres. I picked them up on the way back from training (after paying £115 which seems a little steep for strip/refit and new bearings) and straight in the garden to fit them.

All done:
https://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh163/adam673673/Mobile%20Uploads/20150703_184750_zpshoyhe1bh.jpg

Whilst i was having a tinker ive realised the chain has 2 massive tight spots, which is nice. Ill put that on the list for winter when ill service and MOT it.[/img]
