|
|
Hi,
I thought I'll introduce myself by showing a few pictures of what I do.
I'm done (for now...) with my Suzuki GSX-R 1195 Turbo. See pictures below. 314 rwhp at 20 psi and boost is now set to 32 psi. Quite quick bike
https://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff67/lahi1979/Bild1_zps6tj3wti1.jpg
https://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff67/lahi1979/Bild2_zpspuyxzeyq.jpg
https://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff67/lahi1979/Bild4_zpshlvzpedz.jpg
But I still need something to do in the garage, and this is what I'm building now:
This has my own frame made from 40x2 mm seamless steel tubes, and the bike has a 700 cc twostroke twin from an Arctic Cat snowmobile.
I'm building my own separate gearbox as well as the Harley separate transmissions are not close ratio enough for fast two stroke. Snowmobile engines use a cvt, but I need a real gearbox.
So, I'm using Honda Cbr1000rr shafts and gears in a home made casted aluminium housing (separate gearbox with dry clutch). I will use a HTD 8M belt from crank to dry clutch, and the gearbox will be lubricated with a oil pump that I also build using Mazda RX-7 gerotor pump gears.
The tuned pipes have the same dimensions as the ones on a few quick Wildcats here in Sweden, and the engine will get its fair share of cylinder and block porting.
Should be about 140-150 hp in a 130 kg (290 lbs) bike. Chassis dimensions about the same as an rs250. Quite small. 1370 mm (54 inches) wheelbase. The tank in the pictures is from a -98 Honda NSR 125 and as you can see, the bike is small.
Pipes facing to the rear, and Mikuni TM40 carbs between front wheel and engine. They will of course get an airbox.
Ducai Monster front forks, and Aprilia Tuono swing arm and shock.
What do you think?
This is built to be road legal here in Sweden. Even better

Is this the most powerful production 2 stroke that could reasonably be fitted into a motorcycle chassis for the road?

Ste, I'm sure in the remnants of your sick and twisted mind this post has some meaning, but damned if I can fathom what it is ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Nice to hear that you like it
DrDonnyBrago wrote: | Sounds awesome!! How much of the machining etc are you doing, and do/will you have pic/vids of those parts??? |
I do all of the machining myself. I have a small milling machine at home, and a big one and a few lathes at work.
The gearbox housing is casted by a friend of mine. I made the drawings and he casted it. Then I have machined the bearing seats an so on. This gearbox is just a prototype (hopefully working soon...) and as soon as I have evaluated it in a running bike I'll make the design changes needed and then mill a few housings from aluminium (easier to get the tolerances right for an amateur...). Those might be up for sale in a few years

No, there are more powerful engines around, like the Polaris 800 RMK and similar sleds, but the Wildcat 700 has a lot of bang for the buck. It's the strongest engine I could afford when I bought it The Polaris 800 have 40 hp more, but it's £1000 more too. So, to keep my tight budget (you know, house, wife, three children, three motorcycles and so on) I went for the wildcat 700. And for the sound. Search for wildcat 700 on youtube |

Why Ducati monster forks? Seem a bit low spec to me.
Excellent project though looks great! ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.
