Hi,

I thought I'll introduce myself by showing a few pictures of what I do.
I'm done (for now...) with my Suzuki GSX-R 1195 Turbo. See pictures below. 314 rwhp at 20 psi and boost is now set to 32 psi. Quite quick bike Very Happy

https://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff67/lahi1979/Bild1_zps6tj3wti1.jpg

https://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff67/lahi1979/Bild2_zpspuyxzeyq.jpg

https://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff67/lahi1979/Bild4_zpshlvzpedz.jpg

But I still need something to do in the garage, and this is what I'm building now:

This has my own frame made from 40x2 mm seamless steel tubes, and the bike has a 700 cc twostroke twin from an Arctic Cat snowmobile.
I'm building my own separate gearbox as well as the Harley separate transmissions are not close ratio enough for fast two stroke. Snowmobile engines use a cvt, but I need a real gearbox.

So, I'm using Honda Cbr1000rr shafts and gears in a home made casted aluminium housing (separate gearbox with dry clutch). I will use a HTD 8M belt from crank to dry clutch, and the gearbox will be lubricated with a oil pump that I also build using Mazda RX-7 gerotor pump gears.

The tuned pipes have the same dimensions as the ones on a few quick Wildcats here in Sweden, and the engine will get its fair share of cylinder and block porting.

Should be about 140-150 hp in a 130 kg (290 lbs) bike. Chassis dimensions about the same as an rs250. Quite small. 1370 mm (54 inches) wheelbase. The tank in the pictures is from a -98 Honda NSR 125 and as you can see, the bike is small.

Pipes facing to the rear, and Mikuni TM40 carbs between front wheel and engine. They will of course get an airbox.

Ducai Monster front forks, and Aprilia Tuono swing arm and shock.

What do you think? Smile

This is built to be road legal here in Sweden. Even better Very Happy

Yes, it's GP500 figures, but that doesn't mean no one else can achieve those numbers Very Happy

The engine I have puts out 120 hp completely stock. The engine mod I'm doing is also quite common here. Pipes, bigger carbs (40 mm instead of 34 mm) ported cylinders and block and a few other things. This usually gives around 140-150 hp in the Arctic Cat Wildcat 700's.

The weight then.

The engine is very light. And small. So it's just 80 lbs.

This is measured by me with a hand held digital scale:

Engine with carbs 80 lbs (36 kg)
Frame 24 lbs (11 kg)
Front forks with clamps 22 lbs (10 kg)
Pipes 9 lbs (4 kg) Thin, just 0,7 mm rolled sheet metal.
Transmission with clutch 29 lbs (13 kg)
Swing arm 9 lbs (4 kg)
Yamaha R1 front and read wheels including tires 39 lbs (18 kg)

So now, with a rolling chassis (add the wheels mentally in the pictures Laughing ) complete with engine and gearbox I'm at 212 lbs, or 96 kg. All the heavy bits are there.
I don't think 130 kg (290 lbs) should be a big problem. Dry Wink

Nice one.

I would be interested to see your casting set up for the gearbox housing.

Is this the most powerful production 2 stroke that could reasonably be fitted into a motorcycle chassis for the road?

Ste, I'm sure in the remnants of your sick and twisted mind this post has some meaning, but damned if I can fathom what it is Laughing

I do all of the machining myself. I have a small milling machine at home, and a big one and a few lathes at work.

The gearbox housing is casted by a friend of mine. I made the drawings and he casted it. Then I have machined the bearing seats an so on. This gearbox is just a prototype (hopefully working soon...) and as soon as I have evaluated it in a running bike I'll make the design changes needed and then mill a few housings from aluminium (easier to get the tolerances right for an amateur...). Those might be up for sale in a few years Laughing

No, there are more powerful engines around, like the Polaris 800 RMK and similar sleds, but the Wildcat 700 has a lot of bang for the buck. It's the strongest engine I could afford when I bought it Wink The Polaris 800 have 40 hp more, but it's £1000 more too. So, to keep my tight budget (you know, house, wife, three children, three motorcycles and so on) I went for the wildcat 700. And for the sound. Search for wildcat 700 on youtube Smile

I couldn't afford the Öhlins I wanted Wink Price vs performance. Forks, shock wheels etc are easy to upgrade later on when the bike actually runs. I don't want to spend a fortune on a pricy fork when the bike is in this stage. If I later on find that I need a more high performance fork, then I can consider it. Right now that money are better spent on something else. But I see your point Very Happy It would look better with shiny stuff Very Happy
