My only guess would be the weird indicators.....but that wouldn't stop a man of your talents.

Or is it you are attracting a lot of unwanted attention from adventure riding wannabes Smile

I actually like the paddle select indicators though the cancel button is almost impossible to hit first time and don't even think about hitting the horn in an emergency - you'll only warn everyone that you're turning left!
Nothing wrong with the telelever either - now I'm used to it not diving under any braking at all I quite like that too.

Not those..

Something to do with the ergonomics of cylinder heads?

The fact that it tries to leap off of the side stand if you so much as breathe at the throttle while it's ticking over?

Nope, but you're so close that I'll let on.

No fucker will talk to me. I've stopped off twice now at the Blackheath tea hut on my way home from work at 9.30pm and the place has been stacked out, but the only people who have returned my 'hello' have been people who didn't see what bike I rolled up on. One guy on a k6 gixxer who pulled up at the same time actually looked me up and down and turned his nose up.

Even other BMW riders act just as strangely. A 1100RT rider whom I tried to strike up a conversation with turned his head slowly then hissed a greeting through his teeth. Another guy on a 1100GS muttered a hello at some lights without even turning his head.

What the hell is wrong with people? I know it's not me since I don't have any trouble talking to folks but I couldn't have got more hostile reaction f I had donned a swastika flag and goose-stepped the whole length of Hatton Garden Smile

Snubbed by a gixxer rider! Laughing

I think the BMW riders are just acting normally. Maybe there is some kind of unmentioned hierarchy, caste system, pecking order. You are like the 6 fingered, web footed cousin and you may not talk directly to an 1100RT owner - you need to find a 650GS owner to take pity on you and welcome you into the clique.

Seriously though I have found BMW owners (especially in a group) to be some of the least approachable bikers.

I've actually thought that there should be some useful space above the BMW boxer engine's once the airbox, engine cover, alternator etc is moved, for a nice big Eaton charger!

Would be worth it for the demented whine alone! Wink

I have a R1150RT and can agree BMW knows how to make a really nice road bike and the boxer motor is curiously endearing, grunt in all the right places. Telelever is frankly brilliant.

Ask Timbo Foggins, R1100S survive crahes very well.

Why are you attempting to interact with proles? The reason for the tricky switchgear is to keep lesser genetic inferiors from lingering on righteous machinery.

That's a factory sports pack so the centre stand is the addition rather than the suspension. You should also find the rear wheel socket is missing from the toolkit because BMW don't trust you to take the rear off without a centre stand.

Taking that collector box out is probably the cheapest thing you can do to get a bit more grunt. Not a massive improvement but noticeable. A guy called Lennie makes "rocket sprockets" which are a set of cams that knock the peak torque about 1k down. He makes some carbon inlets and such too but you're at the point of diminishing returns by then.

And they crash OK although I wouldn't recommend it. Just don't knacker the front subframe unless you can fork out £300 for a new one or find one at a breakers. Oh and if you tweak the telelever you'll be ballsed completely.

Yes it IS missing - I thought it had been lost by a clumsy owner. Yes to the centre-stand too, the guy I bought it off fitted it and then found that it didn't lift the rear wheel off the floor. I remedied that by welding some thick pads on the feet.

Only mod I'm considering right now is buying a fuel tank and welding a reservoir in where the ABS pump should go to push my range up to 200 miles.

Range would be worthwhile mod.

I usually get ~120 miles before the 4 litre reserve light, I've done 160 total on a tank and iirc had just over 1 left when I filled it.

Not a mod but single seat covers can glam them up fairly cheaply.

I'm sure when we toured Europe my dad got roughly similar tank range to me on the divvy, iirc around 180 to reserve.

Extended the range of the tank by about 50 miles. So silly to have just 18 litres of fuel on such a bike. I used the space in front of the battery where the ABS unit sites (on ABS models) and I'll re-locate the ECU to the front of the bike if I can't get it in here on the flat.

Just a follow-up, I had to re-do the tank staring from scratch with another used because I made a silly mistake when pressure-testing the tank for leaks. I had been using 5psi the night before and welding up pin-holes but finished it the next night and somehow managed to put 30psi into the tank and blew it up like a baloon Very Happy

Still it's all fitted now and holds an extra 5 litres of fuel. Here's the tank I tjust fitted alongside the one I ruined. The ruined one is 4 inches wider at the bottom after I pumped it up Smile
