Table leg and fixing arrived. Going to whack a 2.5" hole in the floor and get it fitted.
Also started making up a bracket for the TV screen to hang from the ceiling. I've looked at purpose built 'flip down' 12v TVs, but for anything as big as the one I have (17" widescreen) is like £250+. For something I will probably never watch! ____________________ - Honda XL125S - CBR400 NC29 - VFR400 NC30 - CBR400 NC29 - TL1000R - TeeZeR Pit! - Bandit 12 - YZF450 - LuckyMX125 Pit! - Demon X XLR 140 Pit!

Cheers.
Tonight I took the exhaust system off. Smashed the guts out of the cat, and then started to look at making up a side-pipe system, with a small silencer inline to keep it reasonably quiet.
It revs up SOOO much more freely now without a cat fitted, and you can hear the turbo spooling up under load. Can't wait to get the huge FMIC fitted and have it mapped. Arches are proving to be a cunt!
Tigerseal, Sikaflex, whatever I stick them on with, seems to be peeling back off where the arch is under tension.
Wings are fucked underneath now too, so I can't even take them back off. Wank Stain!
I'm now at the point where I am ready to bang stainless countersunk screws through the arch and into the body work, then fiberglass/filler over the top of them.
Having black arches/bumpers, and blue bodywork is out the window if that is the case. Wont get a nice line around the arch if it's 'smoothed in' ( Fuck I hate that term! ).
Gonna spend a few hours on it tomorrow, see how it goes.
Last resort is to just get them on, and roller paint the whole van. Euro-Rat style! Cheap and covers up ALL imperfections!

Spent most of today sorting the arches out on the front end.
Van is ready for paint now (I think)...
Looking into painting methods. I'm tempted to just run it into a body shop and pay the man the money, to have a proper job of it.

Can get it in cellulose, and roller it on...
Hmm, would it look shit? ____________________ - Honda XL125S - CBR400 NC29 - VFR400 NC30 - CBR400 NC29 - TL1000R - TeeZeR Pit! - Bandit 12 - YZF450 - LuckyMX125 Pit! - Demon X XLR 140 Pit!

Yes.
Also, cellulose takes forever to dry (I'm talking weeks or months, depending on how thick you put it on) so if you don't like it or want to flat it back, you'll be needing to leave it a loooooooong time, otherwise you get through the top skin and reveal soup underneath.
On the other hand, if you get it painted properly, you can save a lot of money by doing your own prep, but it needs to be spot on if you want the top coat to look good.
Personally, I think you've put a lot of effort into it so far, put it bit more in and prep it, then get someone to shoot the colour.
If you want to save a bit more dough, I recommend using another dark blue and getting the painter to soft edge mask the panel gaps, so the outer colour fades into the original in the shuts - that way, you don't have to spend a load of time prepping all the nadgery bits you only see when you open the doors and the colour change is slightly less obvious.
My recommendation would be Ford Imperial Blue - it's one of the colours they used on Escort Cossies and it looks bloody spectacular on vans (I've done a few now, everyone who saw the first one wanted theirs done). ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........

Your information is correct, non metallic direct gloss shines straight from the gun, metallics need a clear coat.
Metallics are a bit more expensive, obviously you're using more materials, but lacquer isn't quite as expensive as colour and they are a bit more hard wearing, simply because you've got another layer of material to get through.
Cost wise, paint varies wildly in price and to some extent you'll be tied to what your chosen painter likes to shoot, but £3-400 should cover it, plus what ever the painter wants for his trouble. ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........

The only one I know your way is Pete at Mechspray in Rochester - you'll have a coronary if you ask him to do it, but he might be able to recommend someone a bit less pricey (his thing is award winning high end customs and restos, plus a neat sideline in doing stuff for films and F1 teams). ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........
