Replaced my 2008 FZ6 S2 last month with a 2007 ZX6R. Had done just over 400 miles from new, been garaged all it's life, had serious chicken strips and hadn't even had it's first service.

Bought her from a dealer for £4500 which I thought was decent all things considered as it is practically in the condition of a new bike. Dealer did the first service for me and picker her up around a month ago now. Insurance is just under £300 FC at 23 with 5 years NCB.

It is completely stock as far as I can tell other than a couple of daft stickers on the fairings. As she is going to be living on the driveway, I have spent the first month trying to make sure it doesn't rot to pieces or get stolen.

Have installed the only ground anchor I could find suitable for a soft ground driveway: https://www.groundbolt.co.uk/anti-theft_anchors.html#shermans - the 90cm version

Got an ABUS alarmed disc lock: https://www.abus.com/uk/Mobile-Security/Motorbike-Scooter/Brake-disc-locks/GRANIT-Detecto-X-Plus-8077-yellow

And, an Oxford Stormex cover: https://www.amazon.co.uk/OXFORD-STORMEX-MOTORCYCLE-WEATHER-COVER/dp/B000R593AG

Also gave her a good clean when I got her home, polished her then lathered her in ACF50 which made it look like the bike was on fire for about the first 5 miles of riding. Been an expensive past month or so getting the bike and buying all the above but I do have some modifications planned for the coming months:

Essentials such as tail tidy, smaller plate, storm grip, DB screen, R&G bungs, integrated brake and indicator light I've seen here:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/07-08-Kawasaki-ZX-6R-ZX6R-ZX6-fender-eliminator-2007-2008-tail-tidy-/121591210812?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c4f66a33c

Once essentials are out of the way and provided I haven't binned it by then, then went a carbon front hugger and fender as they look awesome in contrast to the Kawasaki green and then start thinking about a Yoshi exhaust system.

Will be a slow process as I need to save up for the mods among other things but will keep the thread updated Thumbs Up

EDIT: Also want to get some fresh rubber on the bike eventually as they're currently the stock tyres and probably 8 years old now at least and if you are to believe some of the stories online, they'll be getting changed in due course. Current ones are decent for the current commuting run however.

Tidy bike, I had one and loved it....absolutely brilliant on track...Unfortunately I wrote mine off so go steady!

Tail tidy and a hugger are good upgrades but anything else astheticly is pointless for me as it's such a good looking bike.

Decents brake pads and braided hoses make already fantastic brakes even fantasticer!

As with most underseat exhaust bikes you can't pick up a cheap can, you'll be looking at £350 for an Akropovic silencer which is the only one to have....£1500 for a full system. Second hand go for good money too.
I didn't bother as I wasn't interested in more sound and the bike has plenty of power to start with!.

Have fun!

Thumbs Up

Aye, I agree. One of the best looking ZX6R's for me. Exhausts certainly seem pricey for it. Quite pleased with the stock one, has a nice tone to it.

It definitely feels track orientated. A lap timer is a bit pointless feature on the handlebars when I am commuting to work on it. Also quite gutless at low revs compared to FZ6. Really have to rev it to get it to move. Great on the motorway though, done a couple of 125+ mile journeys on it and found it a joy.

Nice video I found online of the same shape but later model bike: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPNR7W8bl6w

Key to most 600 il4's (supersports) is to be in the right gear, you have to "ride" the bike! Very Happy

Indeed, found that out a few times. The power delivery through the rev range is just completely different to the FZ6 I had previously. That had a constant power delivery all the way through the rev range and was ideal for low speed commuting. I genuinely nearly stalled a couple of times making low speed maneuvers in the first couple of days of ownership as there seems to be nothing in the first 1-2k revs. Maybe it's just me though but it seems ever so tame then you go past a certain point and the front is trying to come up. I guess that with such a tame low end and a slipper clutch I am far less likely to wrap it on a corner at least.

That's the problem Laughing

Also doing shift work, you tend to pass your colleagues on the way in at 4am and I've already had a few comments previously about my manner of driving. I do think my licence might suffer during owning this bike.
