So I don't want to open a thread and instantly insult many happy readers!

So when you read this next sentence please don't read into it its purely personal preference!

I said I'd never own a Bandit Why? I couldn't tell you I guess it was like 4 wheeled petrol heads tend to slate Skodas or French cars maybe? When really they know they are pretty dam good at doing what they where supposed to do! Thousands of miles without a hiccup amongst other things.

What do I ride you may ask, well my main bike is a Fazer.... the Yamaha equivalent? No logic at all here is there! HA. Once more I did secretly once enjoy a loan of a '08 650... that's another story!

None the less fast forward to the weekend just gone, I completely went back on all my words after learning of a mk2 bandit in need of a new home from a good friend... We had initially met up for me to get a fish tank from him, after no time we shifted onto the topic of bikes as you do, he said he wanted rid! Got a new bike no need to keep the other he'd lost all interest! I made an offer and that was that.

I bought it, that was it I was a bandit owner. and actually it felt pretty good! I have been looking for a project to keep me busy and this couldn't have been more perfect! She is a 2002 600 with 81k on the clock. It had an engine change about 500 mile ago and now had suspect knocking bottom end.

Here she is

Plans are initially to get it running and ride it to hear the noise and go from there because its supposedly at higher revs! At which point I will either buy a engine or run/repair this one!

Following that long term I am leaning towards a modern take on a café racer.

All thoughts and ideas gratefully received I will do my best to keep you all up to date should you wish as well as plenty of pics!

Once you get it running you can fit a 1200 swinger pretty easily, with a GSXR rear shock. An older GSXR upside down forks fit too - but they're expensive.

Not sure what car park it was to be honest!

Love to see a pic of that tank!

Got it running at least, need to take it for a whirl to try and defect the noise before I decide the next step! I may have searched engine swaps ... But I'll say no more as of yet! I'll be happy with the 600 poke to be honest it'd be more if it was as cheap or cheaper I'd deviate to another block.

Thank you for info on swinger and fork swap It was going to be a question id planned to ask, will it run higher or lower with gixer shock? And what year front end? Thank you
