Looking to do my first track day in a few weeks at Snetterton.

Ive got a RST R-14 jacket which zips around the back (to the front of my hips on both sides) to my RST Slice trousers.

Some websites state that the zip MUST be go 360 degress around the waist, which these do not.

Focus events website states

Quote:
My leathers don't zip all the way round, can I use them?

•Yes if the zip extends 3/4 round the waist and no skin or undergarment is exposed when your arms are raised above your head.

Whats the deal?

Most track day organisers just specify 'zip together' leathers. I think you'll be fine.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

they're not going to come round inspecting everyone's zip length, I had some STEIN leathers on my first track day with a 8 inch stretchy connector at the back, first time I zipped it up and leant over the front end it ripped out of the jacket, but I carried on

I emailed no limits who are holding the track day at the same time as posting this.

They came back to me this morning and said as long as no skin shows when stretching all is ok. This contradicts their website but im not going to argue Smile

You'll be fine pal, I wore leathers just like the ones you described to about 30-40 trackday events using 3-4 different organisers, none of them bought it up with me.

At what price do you value your skin?

I can tell you skin grafts are not nice .

Why not get on eblag and get yourself a decent one- piece (plenty of second hand bargains ), even if you never do another track day just re sell them , also don't forget a back protector .

Would you use a open faced helmet on the track just coz the rules said so ? .

Zips fail, the are a weak point , it's NOT worth the risk .
