Alright,

I've been riding for about 2 and a bit years and started off with a spanking new out of the shop shitty chinese import. It was unreliable, not great to ride, generally a heap of crap and a waste of money.

I wanted to get something a little more reliable and a mate of mine has been riding an 89 CG for the past two years, so a couple months ago I bought a 1987 CG for £375. Its done just over 24k miles and is running beautifully, much better than I thought it would for its age (29yo). I've done a little work to it, new spark plug, exhaust, new battery etc and am currently awaiting the MOT results tomorrow.. Still got a couple little jobs to do but its mostly cosmetic. Very much looking forward to it finally being on the road though! My girlfriends dad helped to do a lot of the work as hes owned a couple in the past when he was younger and estimates it to be worth more than £1000.

I just wanted to see what your guys opinions are on the bike, how it looks etc as I dont think the paint job is an original colour! I've posted a picture of the bike, I look forward to your replies Very Happy

PS. The picture is before any work had been done, will post an updated one when its back from the garage!

EDIT: it's a 1978 CG not an 87

£1000 for a CG Shocked ?????

I had one and it was a great little bike that never let me down.
They are as easy as an easy thing to work on.
Spares are cheap and plentiful, so no issues there.

With all that going for them, I would still be reluctant to pay a &1000 for one.

P.S I think that is an original colour.

Nice CG, but no way worth a £1000, though I hate to say it some mong will pay that much Sad

A friend bought this 76 model for £900, she blew a fair bit on autosol and somehow shifted it on for £950 Shocked .

Meanwhile the 1977 one of my missus I got off a mate for £180, its worth £400 (at a push!) I reckon with a MoT but nothing higher unless it was a good 28 years newer and lower miles.

I'll give you £400 for it without an M.O.T and I'll collect it this weekend.

The CG is an iconic vehicle, and early ones are 'the tits' so to speak. Before they started farming construction out to brazil/turkey and polluting them with disc brakes, CDI ignition and excess weight. Its no surprise that early model CGs are going for decent money.
