Simple story behind this one really, saw it advertised on a local car group on facebook rather cheap and I couldnt resist...something else to play with lol

Been sitting for roughly 2 years. Needs a bit of work doing. This is how it was when I unloaded it out the van after picking it up..

Tried bump starting it out of curiousity but it wasnt for firing. Quick strip down, drained the tank and put fresh fuel in, cleaned the carb and got it moving again and gave the spark plug a quick clean. Tried charging the battery that was in it but it was knackered...so popped in a new one and after a little cawing over she fired straight up

Got a bit of work to do to it and some parts to order up. Once its done ill either keep it for a while purely as another wee toy or sell it on Smile

New chain, oil and fuel and it'll be good as new. I'll buy the exhaust if you ever want to upgrade Wink

Exhaust is shot lol

Unfortunately it was kept outside. Will do chain and sprockets, service it, replace exhaust. Fork seals are needing replaced but the stanchions themselves are pretty pitted. Need to free up front brake caliper aswell as few other wee bits and bobs just to tidy it up

A friend of mine had one of these with a carbon fibre danmoto silencer, which made it one of the loudest 125s ive ever heard... It was an 'interesting' bike to take green laning as well lol Smile

Cool, I'm fixing up a 2006 model at the moment. I also had pitted stanchions, and a seized front caliper. I posted a rebuild thread for the caliper here.

Mine seems to have been neglected a bit, as it's got very low compression. I'm about to replace the piston and cylinder. Here's the tear down.

Cheers for the links dude. Did you source somewhere for replacement stanchions?

Been working away so not had much chance to work on the bike. Service kit, chain and sprockets all turned up the other day though

For the moment I bought some second hand forks off eBay. They are also pitted, just nowhere near as bad as the ones that were on the bike. They should be good enough to get an MoT.

I did find this place that will rebuild and replate your stanchions for about £260.

Seems like a lot, I'd buy a full bike and break it for spares Laughing

Yea I came across them. Haven't really spotted any decent 2nd hand ones yet as not looking to spend alot on it. To get them re-done cost more than I paid for the bike lol

Yeah, it's expensive to get them done. That's why I got some acceptable second hand ones, as I didn't want to pay that price either.

I think all the XR125Ls that are cheap are cheap because they have pitted stanchions. As 125cc bikes in general seem to command quite a premium otherwise due to their demand alone.
