ragged it around the yard a bit. it went alright but keeping it running was a ball ache. lack of air box/clean fuel/ exhaust prob wasnt helping. besides it was in a shit state.
that was enough of that, gutted it. swing arm was siezed solid. had to chop it into bits to get the engine free of the frame. with it in bits i thought it would be a good idea to find a front end. ebay came to the recue and a full front set up off a pulse adrenaline was got. cheap enough and runs a 17 spoked wheel. just what i was after to match the back pegaso one i already have...
28mm die set was ordered up for my tube bender and some bloody expensive cds tube bought. that was a stinger, tube aind as cheap as it used to be...

i hacked a head tube free of its old frame debris and cleaned it up on the lathe. then i nicked my mates xs650 rear end he cut off and liberated its swing arm pivot gubbins, similar clean up on the lathe till its all pretty treatment.

fired the headtube in the jig at a 25 degree angle.

test bent a bit of tube to see how the 180's come out, bit loose one end but the bend is smooth as silk. nice.

Interesting.

Also for the pictures, I think they're just a bit big. You can get round it by putting a lowercase 'L' before .jpg in the link - imgur will give you a large thumbnail image instead of the full thing. Pretty annoying uploading on mobile, it used to give you the option, but no more... But yeah good bit of bending.

Loving the fabrication and own frame building!

Did you make the frame because the std one is rotten, or are you looking to make it something very different to an SR250 look?

Did you already have the frame building jig, and what to you use to bend the tubes and make the compound half moon ends for joining tubes with?

Also what's the black car in the background? Looks like a mini muscle car, but can't see enough of it to work out what it is?

Saw it was an SR250, was ready to dispense mockery.

Was, however, pleasantly surprised.

Also interested in the muscle car, got any pics? Wink ...Regarding the pictures, you could try resizing them before uploading to photobucket or whichever one you use. I find that if you take your pictures horizontally and resize them all to a 1500 pixel width, then that works quite well on forums

im strill trying to solve the image issues, are we saying i need to paste the link then edit it every time? imgur is crap. photobucket is so much easier but mine is demanding money and im not interested.

as for the why am i making a frame for a crappy little sr250? why the hell not hahaha. i never liked the easy option...

the car next to it is my 79 datsun 240k gt skyline. work in progress, im bored to the back teeth of it. i do a bit, then have to go build something else then do a bit more... may finish it one day...

ha cracked it!! cheers for the help with that smallfrowne

got the axle plates cut down and tugs made up. lug sorted for the caliper bracket. wee rembo turned up too.

https://i.imgur.com/Dgsvd8nl.jpg

let my mate play with the lathe, happy as a pig in shit he was.. we cut the axle threads on the lathe to fit with the nex axle plates, the rear wheel is aprilia so used to go through box swing arm and the axle was too long.
https://i.imgur.com/dltjDRil.jpg
i jigged up and made the first bit of the swing arm, then welded it up

hang engine n measure stuff...
https://i.imgur.com/NDQnGWMl.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/o3imNfzl.jpg
then we come to the swing arm pivot.... i hope it works, the sr swing arm was bolted through the engine casings and had siezed solid. i needed to move it back away from the engine to use the xs650 pivot i nicked off my mates old back end. the extended distance from sprocket to pivot may cause problems with chain interference, i need to mock it up with the engine and rear hub in position and check travel/clearances n all that jazz. may need to re think the pivot point but will see. being my first bike frame im gonna hit a few snags here n ther no doubt.

the old frame was crap really. but i never planned on using it. i bought the jig a little while back so needed a cheap donor bike to get stuck in making a frame. hence the sr.
i use my pro tools 105 bender, had it for years but for mainly roll cages. just bought a die set for the 28mm CDS tube. as for compound notching, i have a hole saw type notcher but its way faster for me to use a cutting disc and flap disc to shape the tubes, sounds pony but i can get em pretty good by eye then a little fettle here n there gets em fitting nice.
