Hi all,

I just bought a CB500 for £450 (not selling for any profit) which I bought sight unseen online. I have literally owned this bike for about two weeks - carry on reading to find out why I'm selling. Mileage is 57k.

I bought it for a winter hack as I don't really want my main bike to suffer though the winter, but oh well, looks like that is going to have to happen now! I took it to my local bike garage who, after giving it a look over, gave me a list to get it back on the road, which is just out of my price range to be honest.

Main things that need doing to it are:

New fork oil and seals
New tyres
MOT
Cam chain tensioner (you can hear the chain rattling)

There are some small other things like it needing new grips, new speedo cable and the instruments wobble (broken bracket somewhere).

The bike starts up and rides fine (apart from the forks at the moment) as I rode it 30 mins to the garage but I can't really afford to do all that work and am not mechanically gifted enough to give it a go myself!

The bike has two sets of keys - V5 (although I am waiting for it to come through in my name as I already sent off for the new one) and no service history. If you're interested in buying then I can let you know when I have the new V5 and we can arrange pickup etc. The old MOT ran out on the 13th of this month.

The bike actually is in pretty good condition apart from what I've mentioned. There is hardly any rust, the cabling and electrical connections are in good order too; to me it looks like it has been stored inside when not being used but that is just a guess!

If you can do these jobs yourself (or even the smaller jobs) then I think this bike is a pretty good deal. From looking at other examples on eBay this one seems to be in quite good condition, apart from the work that has been mentioned.

I'm in Surrey in the area of Haslemere.

Any further questions let me know![img][/img]
