Considering fitting a steering damper to the bike. Bought it last summer and felt the front end was a bit too easy to wobble.

Anyone got experience of doing similar and could offer advice? Sources etc? Do aftermarket ones fit pretty well? Not a lot out there for my bike and most I see (the more wallet friendly ones) seem to be designed to sit on top of the bars rather than tucked away under the instrument cluster for example.

Would prefer to have it mounted a bit more hidden than sitting on top.

Cheers

I think they need to be calibrated for the bike.

Obviously mounted in a position that doesn't limit steering. (Except as intended.) Frame geometry and cetera comes into it.

My bikes came fitted from OEM. The bike that never had them never needed them. I'm an ace rider you see.

One has to understand the physics that cause unstable steering. Dampers work. Just fit properly like you asked.

Edited to include the stupid link. Embarassed

To MCN's point, the steering head bearing, fork tube alignment, and tyre wear can all contribute to a motorcycle's propensity to wobble at speed. On assembling the front end, tightening fasteners in sequence could play into it, i.e. tightening the front axle pinch bolts before tightening the axle nut. Check your workshop manual.
