I want to make it clear I'm not victim blaming.

I want to get off on the right foot here Whistle Brick Wall

https://www.metatube.com/en/videos/538609/This-motorcyclist-and-his-stupidity-cause-terrible-accident/

WTF is this all about?

Looks like an Africa Twin? Apart from obvious lack of appropriate gear, there's no way that bike should have struggled to overtake in that situation.

Why so slow?

Have I missed something?

I doubt the choice of footwear would have made much difference in that impact.

How'd his foot get hit. Looks like engine protection protrudes further. Unless he is one of these who points his feet out.

Looked like he was trying to overtake and stay within a speed limit. Screw that - safety first - dont hang about!

Ooh Nasty!, but could have been worse/deaded.
I reckon he was in top gear and unwisely tried to cruise past by giving it bit more throttle instead of dropping a gear
or two and doing a quick 'get out, get past, get in' which you should do on busy roads.

Fuck the speed limit, rather be alive in court than dead on the road.

I think there are three factors going on here.

1. The rider either failed to look far enough up the road, or if he did he either failed to see the car or to judge the distance / speed of the approaching car properly.

2. The rider failed to use the advantage of acceleration / speed that a motorcycle has to make the overtake safe.

3. The car driver also either failed to look far enough up the road, or if he did he either failed to see the motorcycle or judge the distance / speed of the approaching motorcycle properly. If he had done, all he'd need to have done was move a couple of feet to one side and the contact could have been avoided.

I'm not trying to shift the blame to the car driver, but it takes two to tango and small action by either the rider or the driver could have seen this a just a close call and not a life changing incident.

Yeah definitely could have been worse.

But that bike has so much torque, even in top gear it should have made mincemeat out of the overtake instead of his body parts.

I sense a pinch of arrogance and stubbornness on both parts. Biker: I'm going to take my time, plenty of room for car to move over. Cager: Fuck you mate, you're on my side of the road.

If only the biker had put his best foot forward in the overtake.

Life changing disability afoot.
