One thing I've noticed is there are a fair few misconceptions and rumours about Karma floating around (I wonder how many of you have actually read the FAQ?). So in the interest of shedding some light I'm offering to answer any questions you might have. For example, I bet there are still some of you who think it's all to do with spelling Wink

So once you've read the FAQ to make sure your question hasn't already been answered... fire away! All I ask is that you please keep this thread on topic Thumbs Up

Much though at the guaranteed loss of karma....
I love it!
Karma is all good. Except! Short post=karma loss. There's no way I can agree with this. There are times when both karma gods and karma peons have no choice but to respond with "bullshit". Sometimes that's all you can do! And no matter how gramatically correct (<it is wrong!) you will be penalised Crying or Very sad
Plus, and I hate to do this... The Karma system doesn't actually understand grammar.

I don't really have any questions for the Karma system, I have always thought it was a good way of controlling behaviour to a certain extent. Smile

You only lose karma if you post a lot of short messages, a "LOL" or "Yes!" here and there won't hurt your rating.

I don't reset, freeze or otherwise alter people's karma - except by making changes to the system, which affect everybody equally. If you recovered from https://www.bikechatforums.com/images/karma/red_9.gif https://www.bikechatforums.com/images/karma/red_9.gif https://www.bikechatforums.com/images/karma/red_9.gif then you're obviously doing something right Thumbs Up

I've tried to use the add word thingy in the spell checker many time but have given up now. There's some common words and abbreviations that are counted as being mis-spelt.
Is it only mods that can add words?

Been asked 101 times already and the answer is at https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=33852 which is the feedback and suggestions forum, if you haven't got your contact details in your profile then you can't set friends.

Not everyone reads every SINGLE section of the entire forum Rolling Eyes

The changes that have been made recently have made for an interesting effect, and yet new people with interesting ideas but inability to express themselves are still being penalised.

Still . . . that's life, I guess.

I've tended to look for the positive in people rather than the negative, and give them the benefit of the doubt by PAYING ATTENTION to what people have to say, no matter how they say it BEFORE deciding whether they are worth wasting my time on.

Its interesting to discover that the people who APPEAR eloquent and with very positive karma (initially) are, in fact, actually less interesting people when you start to actually listen to what they (keep) saying.
