Had the privilege of taking the bike for a spin today and I must say, Its gorgeous to ride!

So much useable power, its unreal. Handles smoothly, brakes well, accelerates even better ( Mr. Green ) and is just a fab bike to ride. I had it to 70 in a couple of seconds and was still pulling but had to slow down (grr @ slow vans.) Not bad at all considering its 33bhp restricted. Think I'll be looking for one myself, either the ER-5 or CB and I'll be a very happy man. Thumbs Up

Lovely bike for a grand, Tom. Treat her well, or else! Razz

Dodsi,it may be worth considering getting some engine protection bars, if you drop an ER5 the water pump on one side and the generator on the other side are vulnerable, the bars cost about £50 + vat, with the bars on it will rest on the bars saving the engine if it slides down the road.

lol usable power its a ER500 it has no power there 40bhp anyway they gave me one as a loan bike barely hit 110mph.worst bike ever made in my eyes

First of all I am just 19 and earn pretty much fuck all!

Second of all I have only a 33hp licence and the bike is restricted!

Thirdly being 19 insurance is a BIG issue and luckily it only cost me £250 tpft

So Im sorry I cant afford a 'Blade, 'Busa, R1, 996, ZX10R

Also its my first "big" bike so lets learn to walk before I run eh? Neutral

Oh, kasandrich I was considering some engine bars aswell and a rear hugger and a scottoiler! Thumbs Up

Dyanamite... perhaps the bike they gave you was restricted as the ER-5 is 52 bhp as standard - otherwise it wouldn't qualify as a suitable bike to do Direct access on!! considering its the work horse of many riding schools its can't be 'the worst bike ever made' as u put it...

Not all bikes are made to beat the land speed record - most of us live in the real world.... so dynamite, if you are seriously suggesting that the er-5's the worst bike ever made then you really don't know what u are talking about - in other words you sound more like a 16 year old scooter boy then a ZX6R rider that you claim to be in your profile..... (no offence meant to all the well mannered scooter riders out there....

46.6 bhp is the minimum for Direct Access bikes, so 40 isn't even close.

Dodsi, you only need 33bhp for Northallerton as there are so many old folk on the roads, you can never utilise more power Laughing

Just because it struggles to pass the ton, it doesnt make it a bad bike. You dont always have to go fast to enjoy being on 2 wheels.

I had a great time on a 50cc. It struggled to do more than 50mph, but I didnt care, because I love being on 2 wheels. Of course its fun having extra power, but power isnt everything.

Keep enjoying the bike, Tom. Not long til I'll have a 500 of my own. Mr. Green

True, but there was a delay in the photo, didnt get the full height. It was much higher than that, at least a foot high, front wheel was on its way down by the time I got the pic. Wink
