Black Hammerite painted wheels,

red liquid = Redex, drip into the park plug ports to clean out carbon gunk from the cylinder and piston.

bit of painting here too..

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v228/raider2/ZXR%20400%204/Picture010.jpg

First, remove old faring stickers.. (quite hard with old stickers, takes ALOT of elbow grease) Smile

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v228/raider2/ZXR%20400/Picture005.jpg

Clean surface well, and place the sticker on..

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v228/raider2/ZXR%20400/Picture003.jpg

Peel off.. to give this! nice new crome look. (look on Ebay for these sticker sets.. easy to find)

Well, im waiting for some more aftermarket parts.. a carb diaphragm, and 160 pounds worth of anodized gold racing sprockets and chain Smile

Then set it all up, and have a profesional photo shoot done.. should be quite a sight! spent nearly 120 full hours on it now.. no to mention 400+ pounds worth of kit already Smile

Looks a very nice bike Cool Thumbs Up .

The engine looks very similar to mine, it's a ZZR600e by the way.

Thats what I thought Very Happy but the tyres are ex-raced.. top rubber that is!

^^^^

Yeh I was considering fitting a 600 lump sometime in the future, but scrapped the idea in favour of buying a new 600, and keep it as it is. I am looking for another ZXR 400 L1 engine though, but no luck yet.. I want something to have rebuilt and ready for when its current engine retires Sad

Spray it with black Plasti Kote spray, then spray with clear lacquer after. Looks good Smile even better on the bike.

Carbon can sounds nice.. deep grumble Smile and a big scream at 8k RPM. But its not that amazingly loud either.. Sad

Keep your eyes on this section for the build and photo shoot next week Smile

Well firstly, you need to clean the brake callipers damn well, and get all the dust, oil and gunge of the surface you want to paint, then use non hammered Hammerite paint. Then buy a small pot of model paint, (look in toy shops, etc, or even buy an Airfix plane model kit for the paint Wink ) and use a very small brush for the letters. looks very sweet from a few meters away! like expensive racing brakes Smile you need quite a few coats of paint for the letters, as this model paint takes a long time to dry.. ( 4 coats = 1 week dry time).

Also remember not to get brake fluid on the paint, or it will ruin the finish.. so if you need to, bleed your brake system properly first, (if it hasnt been done for a while) then do the painting Smile

Give me a PM if you want any more tips or advice with the pictures above, id be happy to help. Good fun making your bike look like new, or better Razz

My ZXR is a red one and the standard frame colour is black. I think its a silver frame on the green modle, but I could be wrong. Thumbs Up

No.. shouldnt do because you dont need to paint the whole brake caliper, and its only thin coat anyway..
